Did you get your new transmission yet, and did it help?It was not the fluid.
The transmission arrived last week but they needed another part that is not in stock. We are waiting for that part. Hopefully by March 1st.Did you get your new transmission yet, and did it help?
If I start the truck when it’s cold I get this loud whining noise coming from the passenger side. Temp this morning was pretty cold, around -4f, but it’s done it when temps where low teens to single digit. Any ideas what this could be?
Hi,Currently I'm having the same issue with my unit (2021 F150 PB) as well. Brought to the dealership several times already but the Ford shop foreman/technician said "it's just NORMAL noise" and they close out my case. Sad to know that having a 70G+ truck (brand new spec'd/ordered according to our needs) would make that noise! Knowing that we're residing in a very cold place where -25°C is just our usual weather during winter.
Just wondering if what Ford did have to say to you about the noise?
Thanks for the info.Hi,
My noise has been determined to be the transmission.
Hi there! This doesn't sound like an experience we want you to have with your F-150. Could you please send us a PM with your VIN and the name and location of your Ford dealer? I'd be happy to see how I can assist you on my end.
@Ford Motor Company some video...+1 @Ford Motor Company
Built June 2021 (I think, need to double check)
Overnight temps -14F. Remoted started and went out to clear the snow off and I heard a very similar noise to the OP recording... but it seemed a bit different. It sounded like it was on the driver's side and seem to sound a lot more like a heat shield vibrating. It was too damn cold and there was too much snow to crawl around and I wasn't wearing long underwear so I didn't spend much time investigating. I could not hear it from inside and seemed like it went away as soon as I started to drive (again, too cold to have the window down for more than a minute or two and was getting a face full of snow).
Yep that’s how mine has been acting. It also goes away immediately when I put the truck in drive. Seems repeatable and well documented so hopefully Ford’s working on a fix.@Ford Motor Company some video...
Cold start, -10F overnight, about 6F during the video, the truck sat for ~20 hours overnight. I'm at 9500ft in altitude if that matters. The startup, I did not think it was going to make the noise but as soon as I stopped the video it did. The sequence of video:
1 - start, seems normal
2 - OMG the noise came on all of a sudden
3 - about 8 minutes later I noticed it seemed normal again.
Yeah, I've brought mine in for the noise and had the fluid level checked and it was full. So it seems there may be another issue that some of us are having that's not related to fluid level.Well....... Last November took mine in and had the transmission oil & filter changed. The next time temperatures got down below about 15ºF there was a noise from the transmission. The noise seemed to occur whenever the temperatures got below about 15ºF, which happens with some reguarity out here in Wyomig. Ford setup a case number for me and I ended up taking it into a Ford Dealer in Cheyenne, Wy. At the end of the day, it turned out that the transmission was about 1 & 1/2 quarts low. Now all is quiet... Was -5ºF this morning on startup...
