Is it possible to start and drive these push button trucks without hitting the button? Obviously there is remote start, But you cant drive the truck on remote start. There are alot of vehicles getting stolen thru the CAN system. Can the truck be started and driven away thru the CAN?

Adding an easy kill switch is difficult with all the modules on board. Don't want to be setting check engine lights all the time.

So I've been looking to see where I can make it impossible to easily steal a powerboost. On my 05' I had a switch on the power wire to the fuel pump module. Worked great. These new trucks thats on the CAN so it would set a check engine light. Granted, It would be easy enough to cut the fuel line and add an electric valve. However, Being a power boost, that wouldn't necessarily stop them from taking the truck depending on how much power was in the HVB.

It wouldn't be too hard to disable either the shift unlock button, or even the shift unlock solenoid. I wouldn't think a thief would just pull on the shifter like his life depended on it, but what do I know, Not a thief.

My other thought would be to add a switch to the push to start button. Even with remote starting, you still need to press the button to "Authorize" the truck to operate normally.

Check out the IGLA immobilizer. It piggybacks onto the CAN system and can be hidden pretty much anywhere. Doesn't set any engine lights. You enter a combo of buttons you choose or you can attach a small fob to your keychain. It works with remote start. Once you get into the truck with the engine running, you press the start button and enter your code. Without it, if you try to take it out of park, the truck shuts off and puts itself back in park.

I think an immobilizer would be the best solution. I don't have one, but I keep my fob in a Faraday bag and, if I'm leaving the truck for an extended length of time in a sketchy area, I'll pull the starter relay. I made a loop of fishing line that hooks underneath the relay so it's easier to pull out. Takes about 30 seconds out and 30 in. Wouldn't want to be doing it in the rain though. The relays are cheap enough to have a couple spares.

I also had this idea. A simple flip switch that prevent our F150 to start.
I have found many fuses that could do the trick.
Engine bay: 14 -15-43-50 (#15 let the truck to crank, but won't start)
Passenger: 7

*passenger's fuse box is really small and cramped, I don't think I'll be able to close the box after any modification to the system.

I'm still searching for the ONE solution to let me start the vehicle but won't let me shift into gears.

If I wanted to do this, I would look for the power wire feeding the gear selector cct. With the tech on the trucks, there is no mechanical connection to the trans. You should be able to start the truck and have it running, but the shifter will not work.

Just my thought.

This is questionable on the PowerBoost. Depending on how much high voltage you had when you parked it, they may be able to get a good couple of blocks away if they knew how to drive it.

Another possibility is the push button start. No matter what, The truck will not go "Ready" unless you hit that button. Start through a scan tool, App, remote start, key. All require you to press the button to shift out of park. Putting a switch on that might make it unstealable too.
