I've had my 23 STX SC for a few months now and finally tried sport mode. Game changer. My truck has the 3:55 axle and in around town driving, it was always lugging the engine down to 1200 rpms before it would downshift. Super annoying since you'd get the drone and vibration at that low of an rpm. In sport, it rarely drops below 2000 which is super smooth and then, instant torque when you step on the gas. It is a bit aggressive sometimes but so much better than normal. We really need a mode about half-way between normal and sport and I think the 3:73 axle would also help in normal mode. I'm going to drive it in sport for a couple tanks of gas and see if it has a big effect, but I kinda don't care since it drives so much better. Is there a setting that defaults to sport without having to select it each time you start the truck?

No option to default to it and from my experience fuel mileage dropped a little when using but not severely.

Tow mode is similar with using more gears and more engine braking.

And an added benefit is that it disables A.S.S.

I used Forscan to kill that within days of bringing truck home. It's on the common tab of the spreadsheet. You can also pay for a little module that plugs into back of switch and will remember last state so it won't come on unless you turn it on.

3.73 isn't a game-changer. I have it with the 2.7 payload package and the way you've described normal mode is the same for my truck. I hate when it races to 9/10 gears and then refuses to downshift, lugging the engine.

Do you run in sport mode? I think the only time I'll use normal is on the hwy.

Did the Bilstein rear shocks help with the bounceyness in the rear? Any problem with corrosion like some guys have seen on their 5100's?

Mostly in normal mode. I don’t flip it into sport too often. Most of my driving is 80-100km/h cruising.

The 5100s have been great. I still want to do the fronts, but the rears have made a stability difference.

A little bit of corrosion, but not as bad as I was expecting. I’m in SW Ontario and they love the salt here. Just took a quick pic. They were installed spring 2023 so have only seen one winter.

I'm seriously thinking about getting the 5100's and a sway bar... I grew up in Rochester so I know about the salt, lol. We still have a cottage in Parry Sound. Really nice up there.

The A.S.S. feature is the one thing I hate about my 23EB.

While you can’t default to Sport mode the truck does ask if you want to return to it during startup.

Driving home thru PA yesterday I exited the turnpike and took a back country route that just begs for Sport mode and it was the best part of the trip!
