So I wanted my own truck again but this time I wanted to change some things in what I wanted. I love the RCSB platform but I was really racking up the expense adding things to make it a higher trim and kinda missed some interior room plus I thought I would be satisfied with the work truck that I can’t mod.
So I started the hunt for the shortest truck I could get with the Lariat trim spec. In 23 that would be the crew cab which wasn’t going to work but 21-22 they offered the extended cab in a Lariat spec so that’s what I wanted.
I searched for 21-22 extended cab Lariat, 4x4 with the 5.0… which turned up 7 nationwide lol. 4 of these were long beds so it left me with 3 (obviously might be different now) to look through. There was one 22 which was like $55k which is ridiculous so it was out. The other 2 were very nearly the same spec 21s. The difference was 30k miles on one with the mid package and adaptive cruise for $46k and 48k miles on a mid package without ACC for $34k.
Knowing I could add ACC later if I want I pulled the trigger on the last one. Considering I traded my 22 XLT mid with 26k miles for $47k (granted I had $7500 in the whipple) I feel I didn’t get hurt too bad and I have everything already in my interior so I can focus on the engine mods
. I think selling all the interior stuff I have will be enough to get a large down payment on another whipple but this time I’m doing a stage 1R vs a stage 2 with the whistle mod.
If anyone knows an RCSB owner near Orlando that wants an interior makeover let me know, I’ve done the changes so many times I can replace the interior in a day lol.
