I am about 80% sure I'm going to pull the trigger on a 2021 F150 Powerboost Lariat 502A. Has just about every option other than the FX4 package (although it is a 4x4). The 20% reservation is based on it not being an FX4, because I value the skid plates. But if I can come up with a better solution, then I think I'll go ahead and get it.

I'm trying to figure out the best way to go about adding skid plates, and I want it to look as stock as possible. I really like the look of the Tremor skid plate but according to Ford Performance it doesn't fit on a non-FX4. Also, it appears that all you can buy is the Tremor front skid plate-can't get other Tremor skid plates for the rest of the undercarriage (though maybe the rest of the Tremor skid plates are just good ole FX4 skid plates?). Could I just find the part numbers and buy the skid plates that come on an FX4? Would it be a direct fit?

Also, since I'm planning on a small level to fit BFG A/T 305/65R18 (33.6x12.2), does it make sense to add the Fox 2.0 suspension kit and get the shocks that come with it and almost make it an FX4, but better? (maybe this question belongs in the tire section, if so I apologize).

Thanks in advance!

FX4 plates are not great. I don't really off-road but if I did I would want something better. Small and thin.

2021 job 2 trucks should be able to fit the Ford Performance skid plate kit, not sure about PB, check the two threads on Tremor/Performance plate. Couple people fit it to 2wd trucks not sure where you read FX4.

you maybe able to see the ”similar threads “ at the bottom of the page. I’m not sure how to put the link in but user name jjblas did an FX4 skid plate install, with all the parts and such. Give it a look. Suspension wise there are quite a few choices for kits . Fox, Eibach, Ford Motorsport, Icon are just some

I have FX4 package. The middle skid plate is crappy rigid cloth. I have this for the middle skid plate: https://talonsgarage.com/ - if you don't get the FX4 get their whole kit. https://talonsgarage.com/ (my vote)

FX4 has slightly different shocks for off road. The aftermarket Fox shocks are good so is Bilsiten, which you will need anyway if you are going with big tires and need some lift.

Not sure if the FX4 comes with more off road modes, locking axle etc. May want to verify that...
I'd say you don't need it.

Ok, if you like the truck and it’s in your budget then get it. Todays FX4 isn’t yesterdays FX4. I’ve got a Lariat FX4 which I wound up replaced the cheap made in Mexico rancho shocks with Fox and the gas tank doesn’t even have a metal skid plate. There are far better aftermarket skid plates out there and designed far better with more protection. And the tires are garbage too so you’re better off getting something you’re turned on to and adding aftermarket parts to it the way like it.

I added a Talon’s Garage skid plate with cat shields plus the Ford transfer case plate. I did not do the front plate as getting to oil filter looks even harder than it already is.

I have a 2021 powerboost and the Tremor skid plate kit fit fine. Don't think the Fx4 would make a difference but I can confirm the powerboost didn't impact it. There are just a couple holes up front you have to check based on your build date w/ it being a 2021.

I also replaced the cloth whatever you want to call it with a gen 2 raptor skid plate in the same location. Can't remember the part # but it'll come up if you search it. Fit was perfect
