Simple FORScan Connectivity Question

I have the OBD Link MX+ Bluetooth dongle. Can I...

• Connect to this with any bluetooth-enabled device running FORScan?
• Use the Android version of FORScan to connect to this?

Looking to dip my toes into this world and need to know if I need to invest in the cable/connector with a USB connection to a laptop, or can I leverage the bluetooth connection instead?

I would recommend using a WIndows based laptop to connect to the bluetooth dongle.
I'm currently using OBD Link MX which is an older model but works perfectly.

I'm not familiar with the android app but I would imagine making changes on a smaller screen would be a little hard on the eyes.

Following. I didn't even know there was an Android version. I don't see it in the play store. I assume you have to sideload the apk file?

Does anyone know if the USB Vlink cable would work with my phone if I use a USB to USB-C adapter?

At this page (<click for even more useful info about adapters, etc) we find the note

Supported platforms:

• Windows 2000/XP/Vista/7/8/8.1/10 (ELM327-compatible adapters with COM, USB, Bluetooth and WiFi interfaces, J2534 PassThru adapters). Note: only x86/x64 architecture is supported for Windows. ARM architecture is not supported!

As previously mentioned, a Windows laptop running one of the supported older OS listed above can be had for a very low price - and deliver 100% of the functionality offered by FORScan. IMO it's the way to go.

I think my computers at work have a problem with the FORscan website, because I can never access it unless I am at home on my laptop.

I have used that cable with an adapter on my Pixel 7 with the obdlink software to check SOC and other ford specific pids. I assume it would work as well with forscan for android, however I don't think there is much functionality of the android version pertaining to making any as-built changes.

Edit : OBD Fusion app, and OBDLink EX cable with USB C adapter are what I have used. It also looks like we are unable to purchase the forscan android app at the moment due to the inability to receive payments in russia.
