I am on my second PowerBoost. First my 2021 KR and now my 2024 KR. I love the 27 - 29 mpg I get in the city and having the 7.2 Kw power available is great.
I’m considering replacing my 21 KR with a 24 KR as well. Do you notice any driving improvement on the 24?

I have a 23 kr pb. Had it for a little over a year now, with no major problems. Just a new battery. I'm currently in yellowstone working. I pulled my trailer here from az, with no issues. Here in the high altitude, I get the best gas mileage I've ever got. I average 30mpg on any drive I go, uphill or down, long or short drive. I suppose the 45mph speed limits have something to do with it, but still quite a surprise.

I agree- I find the sweet spot for getting great mileage in the PB is staying in the 30-50 mph speed zone and using Eco mode and EV coach.

The 2.7 EB has about the same EPA mileage rating as the PB. The PB is a $3560 option and available only on XLT and above and only available in 4x4.

The 2.7 EB's on the lots around here have a 6425# or 6850# GVWR.

My 2023 EB Crew, 5.5 bed has a 1587# CCC and a 7350# GVWR.
3.5 PB is a different animal than a 2.7 EB, fun to drive factor, power and versatility (with pro power) give a massive edge to the PB.

And now with the rebates it doesn’t cost anything additional vs a 5.0 or Ecobooat in say the Lariat trim.

Edited my post, I meant PB, not EB. I'm over 60, I am allowed and expected to have mild dementia now and then. I like breakfast tacos...

@mortgagemaniac Both trucks have the Pirelli Scorpion tires (35psi) and shocks look the same (both are FX4).

It didn't take anytime to learn my driving when going to electric mode. With 12 days and 567 miles, 48% is electric. I can start in electric and accelerate (from driveway or parking lot) to 30 mph before ICE starts. Took a few months to get my 2021 to 40% electric.

Letting my foot of the brake in ICE or electric is the same. Both "idle" forward at 1 mph. The truck slowly begins moving forward. 2021 would accelerate to 3 mph in electric so I couldn't slowly inch forward (when pulling into the garage or in drive-thru).

2024 has Bed Scales, don't think it adds weight. Highway and city above 40 mph the truck feels like I don't have the FX4 pkg. Slightly smoother ride. Not the same as air or independent rear suspension but the F150 is made to tow. But again, the ride does feel better.

PS. I think the radio is louder. I know use 7 as normal volume and 12 is jamming. 2021 was 10 and 17.

Steering feels a little tighter or more responsive.

I will say, thought it was a gimick cause wife's 2024 Escape has it, but I love driving with the Heads Up display. In traffic I see all the information in my line of sight.

Overall I am getting 1 - 2 mpg better in 2024.

Around town, my '24 KR PB runs in electric mode 25-35% of the time. I took a 350-mile trip this week, mostly expressway, and my average was 21.8 MPG, with only about 12 miles of it in electric mode. I wish it would start out in electric mode, as that is where the ICE engine uses the most gas to get up to speed.

My last two trucks were Rams and I'm over 100,000 miles in my reliable Ram truck and considering a power boost for the extra mileage seems like I would get 20% maybe more MPG from a power boost. Is the Ford power boost reliable? should I consider it please tell me your concerns with yours! pros and cons.

Yes, it is a little quirky to drive but getting 25+ mpg around town with 430 hp and 570 pound foot of torque and 5.4 seconds 0 to 60

This is where the PB does not get the most benefit from this system. This is my scenario.

Short trips with lots of starts and stops on a highway. Gas it up to highway speed then hit the brakes to stop at the next light. Rinse and repeat. Even with that I get 18 - 19 mpg and I am no grandma with the gas pedal. My old 2009 Tacoma got about 17 mpg with half the truck and half the power.

I wouldn’t buy it just for mpg. It gets incredible mileage for being the most powerful half ton this side of a TRX.

My advice is to wait. The PB is a kludge made from what was available at the time, but the parts were pretty solid and the idea is a good one. A ground up version will be far more elegant, and that should show up in the numbers. If you need a truck now or plan to replace it every 2-3 years regardless, then go ahead. I would also look at the Ram E-charger, which I think has a better overall drivetrain layout but worse individual components.

That said, I still haven't seen a vehicle (not just truck....vehicle) outside of my hopes/dreams that I would trade my truck for, but I am hopeful that they are able and willing to build a far better truck in the next 10 years. A Superduty with the 10R140, the Aviator 100 hp electric motor/battery and the same 3.5L or 4-5L version of the 6.7L would be a beast.

I ordered and bought a new Platinum Powerboost in 2021. Could not be happier. It has a lot of power and tows my 21 foot bass boat very well. Was concerned with the new technology when I bought it so I put an extended warranty on it. Have had no problems at all. For me the only downside is the weight of the Powerboost battery under the bed. It cuts your payload capacity about 1300lbs.

Actually the battery is teeny tiny by Hybrid Battery standards. (1.5KWH) Like really small. And the battery enclosure includes a lot of additional components beyond the battery cells themselves. Yet the whole assembly is still not very hefty.
The Payload hit is a result of all the other components required to be a Hybrid. And I don't think all of it combined equals a 1300lb hit.

Or put another way, a similar equipped 3.5 Ecoboost F150 doesn't have an additional 1300#'s of Payload.

I don’t think most of the PowerBoosters will be interested in the Super Duty version, it’s very likely to be a large cubic inch naturally aspirated V8 hooked up with a tractive motor. While that is attractive to me as a 5.0/V8 lover, I think most of the turbo lovers will be uninterested in the Super Duty Hybrid. It’s very likely to be geared to the V8 crowd imo.

While that may be true for some, I would very easily have ordered a 250 Tremor package King Ranch powerboost!!!
