My last two trucks were Rams and I'm over 100,000 miles in my reliable Ram truck and considering a power boost for the extra mileage seems like I would get 20% maybe more MPG from a power boost. Is the Ford power boost reliable? should I consider it please tell me your concerns with yours! pros and cons.

The potential of a 20% increase in fuel mileage is absolutely real, if you are using the Powerboost in typical city, urban, suburban stop/go traffic.

The potential decreases as you are at sustained 65 mph or more.

As for reliability, haven't you heard?
Consumer Reports has tagged the Powerboost as the most unreliable truck sold in America!

I'm so tempted to have a bumper sticker made up with the claim, and sport it proudly on my truck.

?(y)

If only it were available for we unicorn / small-niche SuperCab lovers

(I still follow forum PB owner experience posts and that makes it a very attractive drivetrain to me, but we all gotta choose our priorities, for me the 145"WB SuperCab+6.5' box configuration rules, and I have no regrets about that)

Yeah, I understand the packaging (and marketing / sales) constraints behind the situation, just lament those realities, and do harbor a bit of envy for the many happy PB owners.

Yeah it's a shame that the Powerboost option was almost unconstrained across every trim level and configuration when it was released in 2021, only to be narrowed, rather than expanded, since.

My first Powerboost purchase was actually a corporate purchase, and was a 2021 CrewCab XL Fleet acquisition. I was so enamored with it that I impulse purchased a Platinum Powerboost from their retail inventory for personal use.

The XL is still worked/used every day on airport grounds. Has been flawless and never had a warranty repair.

I drove the Platinum for about 6 months and concluded that the Powerboost platform is a keeper for me, but never really embraced the trim. So I special ordered a KingRanch Powerboost with everything I could find a checkmark to include. Arrived 6 months later as a Job2 2022 and was very fortunate to have snuck in under the wire for the infamous constraints that would have broke my heart. (multicontour seating, for example)

2 years and 3 months later and I still am amazed with the truck every time I hop up in it.

Combined, the 3 Powerboosts are more than 6 years of service. And none have ever seen the dealership service department except a relatively quick in/out for my KingRanch with a sheared axle bolt. Was hardly a fuss, considering.

I know forums are far more likely to be useful for folks that ARE having issues. But I'm pretty sure that my experience is representative of many many thousands of Powerboosts. Nobody has that much luck. ?

The 2.7 EB has about the same EPA mileage rating as the PB. The PB is a $3560 option and available only on XLT and above and only available in 4x4.

The 2.7 EB's on the lots around here have a 6425# or 6850# GVWR.

My 2023 PB Crew, 5.5 bed has a 1587# CCC and a 7350# GVWR.

Love my truck. 2021 Job2 Platinum and use it for camping/home backup power generator. I plan on keeping my PB for several years and would consider trading it in for Super Duty PB unit when/if it comes out so I could get a bigger trailer. If not, I may just keep it and get a Class A RV and tow it behind it... And I get 24 mpg around town in bumper to bumper traffic.

you are not alone in that arena
a super duty pb and a nice smaller rv might be the answer in our house
our bus is HUGE 40 feet, like it alot, zero issues over the last 14 years.
but we dont use it as much as before, so a small 30 footer would work for our needs and wants
and af250 pb would be a great tow vehicle
lots of moving parts over the next 5 to 9 months...
to digest

when i first read about the PB , i knew it was a game changer, but i was not looking for a new truck.
but watching the truck actually do what it was designed to do and driving my parents mav hybrid
i was sold on the upgrade.
a mav with a 2.5 generator would be perfect for its audience
just like the 150 . a super duty pb , with the 6.7 would be the cats knees and bees meow,

Aside from a few early software issues in mine that have been fixed- I absolutely recommend the PB. Excellent MPG for a full size truck in slower city/neighborhood driving. I consistently get 25-26 Ave. mpg in these situations. Tons of get up and go when you need it. 7.2 kw PPOB is also an amazing value when you consider that it is capable of powering your home and how much a dedicated whole house back up generator costs.

I am on my second PowerBoost. First my 2021 KR and now my 2024 KR. I love the 27 - 29 mpg I get in the city and having the 7.2 Kw power available is great.

Hard to find a bigger endorsement than a fella enjoying the truck enough to purchase it again after a few years with the first one.

On my second PB as well. The 2021 PB was sort of a beta product. But the 2023 is doing great once we figured out the "Stop Safely Now" firmware bug.

I would be getting another PB if rather than pull options for 2024 they would just add a few. Gross weight increase, a little more fuel capacity and a battery big enough to capture most regenerative energy while towing would be great additions. Appears Ford spend all the R&D money on the Lightning when it would have had a much better return had it been spent on the PB.

I came out of a 2020 Ram into the 2023 PB Platinum. The Ram was definitely a more comfortable truck and it rode and handled a little better. Interior was nicer too. That's not to say that the F150 interior isn't nice (it is), but that is one place that Ram really jumped out in front.

Still not planning to go back to the Ram brand anytime soon. Gas mileage is stupidly better around town (8-9 MPG better), and still does 2-3 MPG better on the highway for me. I also tow with it, and this power train is just light-years ahead of the hemi I had in the Ram. It's a great platform and lives up to the hype. If the longevity stays there (only 16.5k miles right now) then I'll absolutely be looking at another one in a few years.
