Shift System Fault Service Required

I received a call from the dealer that it started and drove fine when they went to take it inside for service.... go figure.

They plugged it in and updated all modules and have been testing it every now and then to make sure it will be ready for pick up on Monday.

So....... software glitch?, I guess.

There was an OTA on 11/9 so I wonder if it was a bad file? No idea, just throwing things against the wall at this point.

same here today. 2021 Powerboost.

It felt that the battery died when I tried starting the truck....Charged the battery up with the trickle charger for an hour, started the truck and held the gas pedal so the generator kicks in for a minute, drove around, all good except for the "SHIFT SYSTEM FAULT, Service Required".

Did hard reset the GSM module through Forscan, then DTS reset, no more error messages.

Will monitor the battery.

My 21 F-150 gave me the “Shift System Fault” message last evening and went webtvparjed but cane back on when I shifted in gear. It shifts and rubs just fine. I can't see the dealer until tomorrow. Mileage is 45,833. Will they give me a loaner? Is it safe to drive ?

Hello, I hope all is well,

Has anyone had this warning message show up? This happened when I got into the truck this evening to back it into the garage. Along with the shift system fault message came a yellow wrench on the dash. After parking it, I waited an hour and went back out to truck and got the same message upon starting again. It is a 2021 powerboost with 24k.

I have the fault code on my 21 Lariat 3.5 as well. I have had it into the dealer, and need the gear shift module replaced. However the module is no longer available, and there is no eta on the replacement. Has anyone heard when there will be a replacement for the ml3z7210q part number? Is there a contact number for Ford that we can use to talk to a person? My dealer is great, but I don't feel comfortable taking my truck on any long road trips, and a $200 part would fix the issue. It is very frustrating.

Did they ever get you a new part? Did they say they just swapped or did they have to reprogram newshifter? Seen a few forms where guys are saying the just swapped but saw video from a tech showing he reprogrammed it.

Mine sounds like an actuator in the shift module is getting stripped. Warranty will cover with my $200 deductible. The dealership is an hour from me, so I'm curious if I should get the shifter assembly and do it myself to save some money, if it will save me anything.

Having same problem with my 2023 F-150 fx4 5.0 got the gear wrench in left corner and service vehicle soon light took to dealership this morning they said it's the gear shirt modular sounds like this is a problem with alot of vehicles
