Took the family RV camping for a few days before Thanksgiving since the kids all have the week off from school. (I don't ever remember getting the whole week, but that's another story for another time)

Lake Morena is in Southern San Diego County mountains at about 3500' and a 45 min drive for us. Weather was clear and nice, but dropped into the low 40's at night (yes, still warmer than other parts of the country, but I live in San Diego, so that is cold for us!)

A flock of wild turkeys visited the campground each morning. Dog wasn't sure what to make of them, but they kept their distance and let us watch them from a far.

Dinners were dutch oven beef stew and bacon squash soup with campfire cooked pop biscuits. Breakfast was bacon & eggs. Somehow the hashbrowns got left in the freezer at home. Probably my fault.

Truck did well pulling the trailer. Only issue during the trip was the propane didn't work on the RV so the furnace didn't work at night. Extra blankets for everyone. At least the water heater was electric so we had hot water.

Dog was glad to be back at home when the trip was done.

Awesome trip.
I ran out of propane on my last trip from the cold... Then I remembered the previous owner of the trailer left me a small space heater that easily warms the whole trailer. Runs on any outlet inside mine as long as I have Electric hook up.

Very nice! It also looks like your camper came with its own little "crank girl"! What a nice option!

We have a small electric space heater that we are going to be storing in the RV for future trips.

I think something isn't right with either the regulators or the connection to the tank. I'm going to replace them both on Saturday and see if that resolves the issue.

Always gotta find ways for the little ones to "help" even if it isn't much help. 😉

Concur with having an electric space heater. Learned that lesson after our first trip when it snowed on us in early April in Pennsylvania. Burned through a lot of propane. Having the electric heater cuts down the propane consumption but it goes without saying you need to have an electric site too. Happy Trails.

A nice efficient heated blanket and some Ecoflow or Bluetti units could help cut down on the propane usage too. They go perfect with a PB. Use them up during the night and use the PB to recharge them during the day.

Thanks. Tried that multiple times but still never turned on. Tried switching tanks too as I brought a spare tank. Couldn't get propane to flow.

Just to provide an update for everyone, I replaced the two stage LP regulator and tank connection hose. Slowly opened the tank. Then went inside and purged the air from the line via the stove until it lit.

:handsinair:

Then checked the furnace and got warm air to come out.

Will still put the electric space heater in the RV as a backup. But I feel much better about our next trip.

With the PB an induction burner can be a nice addition. Cook in a hurricane too.
