Tech used Ford RTV sealant to adhere them back to the tubes. Pretty much means the RTV sealant was shot.

Good work getting your pan off.

I did this today but with limited success. I could not get the pan to clear the exhaust cross tubes. I think the hybrid components were in the way at the rear end of pan.

I went in to replace the parking solenoid and was lucky that there was just enough space to access it with the pan kind of hanging forward.

There was no chance of getting to the filter bolts so I put it back together and top off the fluid.

Did you have to move the cross tubes or jack the transmission to get your pan to drop off all the way?

Here’s a pic of my experience

Nope, never doing this myself. Doesn't make me feel confident about these Ford transmissions seeing the made in mexico sticker, zip ties, wires in hot oil, and plastic parts in there. ? ??‍♂?

I know, I just remember the days when they were much different and easier to work on. I’ve dropped a few pans myself and had to do it outside on the ground and in a driveway, or parking lot, but I was younger then and more ambitious. Its a crappy messy job and after going through all that mess and trouble I would be livid if it left me without a functioning transmission for something so simple. Thats why I say F-that, let the mechanics do it for $500-$600, or just trade it in before it becomes an issue or money pit like my 2014 current has become. ? ?

I really don't see how anyone could be more or less concerned about the 10spd. It's pretty simple overall. It's just got more clutches in it. Still an auto

I come from the days when 3 speeds where still plenty and 4 speeds where becoming the norm and they were controlled by simply governor's, throttle valve, and vacuum modular, and everything was hydraulically controlled with very little electronic controls, usually just the TCC. Think TH350 & 400, TH200R4 and 700R4, Ford C4 & C6, and Chrysler Torqueflight. ?

I had one time an 83 Caprice Classic with a 229 cid V6 odd fire engine, three speed auto, and 2.56 rear end gear ratio. If I remember correctly that engine had 110 horsepower and the car weighted over 4k. ?

Ford F-150 Rubber Tubes in Transmission Pan 1754485377370-wr

I'm debating on doing this myself on my hybrid or letting the dealership do it. Based on this thread, I need 2x7G199A in addition to the filter 7A098, and the filter o-ring 7Z302 Where does the 7G199B go, and does it also needed to be replaced like the A ones?

It looks like a bigger diameter version of the A ones:

Also based on the above I need to unbolt the trans from the rear crossmember to allow the pan to sneak past the exhaust (like Makuloco's video on a previous gen 5.0).

Assuming 8-9 qts of fluid, I'm seeing ~236 bucks for parts vs ~450 quote for the full service at dealer.

Can confirm this is a pitta. After sucking the fluid out and loosening the bolts, this is how far the pan is able to hang down:

I was able to get the pan out with just prying on the exhaust and losening the trans mount

I ended up having to unbolt the rear trans mount (that also doubles as exhaust hanger) and pull the exhaust off it to allow the exhaust low enough for the filter bolt to come out. The loose tubes do fall out easily, so at reinstall i used a dab of grease to hold in place.

Whoever designed the rear long bolt for the filter to be directly in line with the exhaust pipe has never worked on their own stuff.

Heres the size difference on that rear bolt:

The official writeup is to unbolt the RH cat at the turbo downpipe, but I feel thats just asking for a broken bolt.

I ended up using about 8 qts of fluid in my case. I don't know if I would do it again or not, leaning towards letting dealer do it next time.

I'm dealing with this right now. However, every dealership is trying to sell me this filter which doesn't have that bolt in the back:

I'm wondering if i can just break the tab off and leave the bolt in there.

When you bought a replacment filter was it the type with the bolts on the side, or the back like the one you took out?

Looks like SCREEN ASY.
Part Number: FT217
Supersession(s): L1MZ 7A098B; L1MZ 7A098B; L1MZ-7A098-B

This is what AutoNation told me too. It just makes me really nervous, because it not just a change in bolt location. That back part hanging off of the old part number is a flange with a hole in it, and fluid gets pumped (or drained) through that hole back into the filter. So it fundamentally changes the flow of fluid. I'm really of no mind to tear up my transmission by putting in the wrong filter.
