Has anyone experienced what appears to be the reverse brake assist activating without any audible or visual indications? This happens every so often while backing out of our driveway. It usually occurs in cold weather. Sometimes the vehicle will not move at all. At other times, it will allow us to start to back down the driveway, and then it will either immediately apply the brakes hard or slowly and gently stop the vehicle. Pressing the gas peddle hard will overcome the automatic braking, but it is pretty violent. If this is reverse brake assist, shouldn’t the backup sensors be beeping if the vehicle thought we were about to hit something? Also, the manual seems to indicate that there should be a visual indicator on the dash when reverse brake assist is active.

Would you please reply back once you get it back from the dealer? I am curious to know what they find or say about it.

They have tried updating, software, recalibrating of the camera, and ordered a camera bezel and tried reprogramming and nothing. They mentioned the module might need replacing but supposedly ford is closed until next year, so my truck will sit for another week! They keep telling me when they email ford for instructions it takes them 2 or 3 days to get approval for next steps. Very very frustrating, I have been a chevy guy all my life, but they stopped production on regular cabs V8 short beds, so I went against my better judgemental and here we are lol. I haven't even had the truck for a month after purchasing it in November.

RBA sucks -- just turn it off and watch the cam/mirrors.

You probably have a handful of updates that could use applied as well. 22+ Exps are basically the same brains as 21+ 150s

Here is the thing…we turned it off. While this did reduce the frequency of occurrence, it did not totally stop the issue. The dealer did apply updates, but the problem still persists.

Nope, sure haven’t. The dealer doesn’t seem interested in spending much time on it.

I had the reverse brake assist come on abruptly when in reverse leaving our driveway. Happened several times. The dealer did a bunch of updates and it went away. But, a few weeks ago the brake assist light came on when I started the truck. My 8 month old Motorcraft H6 battery wasn’t holding a charge so I replaced it with the Costco Interstate H7. So far so good.
