Oof, that’s a tough pill to swallow. I appreciate the info though… guess I’ll throw it on the Amazon wish list and get it eventually. Seems so ass backwards that the updates weren’t installing OTA, and now I need to fork over nearly a grand to get it all updated properly.

Then again, even while my truck was under warranty, my battery continued to drain and was confirmed by the dealership 3 times that my battery was defective, yet it wasn’t throwing any codes on their reader so they wouldn’t replace it for me…
I would also add to the list....

1. A comfortable chair.
2. Your favorite beverage. Hot or cold.
3. A good book to read while some of the very long updates are running.

In that case, I would try disconnecting the negative battery cable for 20 minute or so to force reset all the modules. You had two OTA's fail because the truck didn't ping the server back to accept the update. Do that in hopes that the next time one gets sent, it goes through.

No, that OTA does not break anything. What you were seeing was most likely the update wanting to install but not being able to.
I disconnected the battery for 30+ mins over a week ago and it did seem to reset all modules. Any attempts to push the OTA again in the last week or so? Still getting phantom OTA notification for ECG-24.2.5.6.1

Good to know. I took my truck into a dealership today because there were some recalls showing incomplete that I’m 100% certain the previous dealership never cleared out. But I used it as a free appointment to talk to the service tech more about my updating issue. They confirmed I have 16 modules that have not updated in a long time (@rugedraw already told me this)… they want $200 to try and diagnose why my OTA updates aren’t working… then obviously probably more $ to fix whatever the issue is if it’s hardware related. Out of curiosity I asked what it would cost for them to update everything - they wouldn’t even quote me because they said they want to figure out why OTA isn’t working before they sit and manually push all the updates. I said no, I’ll just get the cable and do it myself…

Now just to bite the bullet in the mongoose cable and assume I’ll use it more than once for the life of the vehicle.

The dealer can, but most likely won't as they cannot bill Ford labor hours for updating modules unless there is a recall or a specific problem that doing an update will fix. Even if they wanted to, they can't update the GWM because Ford would need to release the update for your VIN first.

Figured you might find this interesting.....Just received 6.0.0 this am out of nowhere. Guess is gave up on 4.3 due to the issues

A few people reported getting 6.1.0 today which makes sense since Ford pushes out updates to groups of VINs at a time. This is great for the the trucks stuck on Sync 23159 for a long time.

Just glad I don't have to take a manual approach now.... Thank goodness. My mistake it was 6.1.0

Sync version does not show online, but your last OTA was 4.3.6 so I believe your truck is on Sync 23159 which is two version behind the latest one and pretty old at this point. Your next OTA will most likely be 6.1.0 whenever they decide to send it to you. Modules with pending updates are below. Truck is not up to date, but being a job 1 2021, it could be much worse.

ruggedraw, I sent you a DM with a vin if you have time to check it out
Got it. Your truck is on Sync 23291 which is only one version behind the latest version. You do show many of the ancillary modules with pending updates. OTA history shows no updates have been sent to it recently, but the truck is talking to the servers just fine.
