TCU is back! It turned on at some point while at work but it never turned on during my 1 hour commute this morning lol. If I had to guess, it was a battery voltage issue. I found out in a funny way that it was on lol.

As for the dongle, I think I am going to go with the bluetooth version. I might just go with the OBDLink Mx+ simply for the fact that it will have coverage for many other vehicle brands than just the Vgate VLink FS bluetooth version. I understand the Vgate FS bluetooth also has coverage but it will depend on which app/software it is linked to it while OBDLink has their own updated app and then I can just re-use it with FORscan.

Anyways, mind checking my Vin before something else happens? lol Vin: .
Your truck reported these codes on 8/1 and again on 8/2 before it went off the grid. Both TSB's call for an update of the GWM to correct the issue.

Lots of pending updates. The problem is, you do not show a pending update for the GWM. According to FDRS, there are no pending updates waiting behind these that are showing for you. Also, your truck is on Sync 22230 which is 3 year old software at this point. Because you are not showing any pending updates for the GWM, APIM or TCU, this means your truck is most likely affected by the attached SSM where Ford, for whatever stupid reason, is blocking updates for vehicles on Sync 23187 or lower.

Ford F-150 Request VIN Lookup Thread 1755738800381-iq

Even if you had FDRS, you would not be able to update you truck's Sync modules to the latest version. The issue is on Ford's side and not with your truck. Until Ford gets its head out of its own ass in regards to why they are blocking updates for vehicles on antiquated software, there is nothing you (or the dealer) can do.

So, only because my vin isn't tied to an updated version of these modules it wont show up? If these errors exist then the dealer may just replace the module itself instead of the updating it. Do the modules come pre-installed with the latest firmware?
It could easily be that one of these other modules are blocking the GWM update even though we may not understand why they are interdependent.
The code readers I was looking at were only for FORScan right? I would need the 600 dollar mongoose cables for FDRS if I wanted to update these myself, correct?

Unfortunately, no to all of the above. It there were module updates hiding behind those updates, FDRS would show that is the case. We know which modules cause a dependency for others. Ford is holding the updates purposely on their side as per the SSM. Replacing the modules requires them to be programmed with the same software your truck already has and not the latest. Even with FDRS, you cannot update your Sync modules. You can update everything you see on the list, but not Sync. Unless when you plug in to FDRS, more updates pop up that aren't on there (very slim chance of that happening), there is nothing you can do at this time.

@bigjay805 Example: Look at this screenshot of a 2021 F150 behind on the Sync updated that does not have updates blocked. Notice at the bottom, is says to update the APIM and IPC to access more updates for the GWM etc. Your truck does not say that. Also, this truck shows an APIM update pending and yours does not.

Yea, you've gotten a bunch of updates recently. No one can tell you when they will send you the BC 1.4 one, but you all all the prerequisites for it already.
I really appreciate you! Now to be patient, I guess...

Sorry, any ota issues, my last update per the ford app is DSP-24.AE.AK over a year ago. I can't tell if I've been getting phantom update notifications lately or a bad battery, which I've had in the past. The update notifications just disappear when I turn the truck off.

You've had a GWM update fail many times because your truck is not pinging the server back to accept it. You have the OTA trigger active right now, but the same thing is happening. When you check for updates on the touchscreen, what does it say or what does it do?

It appears to check for 5-10s then says no update available.
Hmmm.....strange. The vehicle seems to be talking to the server. I would try to disconnect the negative cable from your 12v battery for 20 minutes, reconnect the battery and then try checking for updates again.

As soon as our lovely FL weather allows, me I'll give that a shot. I don't think I had the battery off for more than 20 min when I replaced it yesterday.

Still not showing update available .
Yea, the OTA is still hung up. Not sure what is going on. If that didn't work, I am not sure what else you can try.

Wow! Just started getting OTAs after a year of none. Can I get a check to see where I’m at update-wise please?
