If you have a powerboost with a center console you can’t use either of the options shown so far. In the console beside the USB ports would be ideal, but a massive amount of work to get there. I found you can easily pull the panel under the steering wheel, and there is a wire passage already there and a nice cavity you can take advantage of below the start button. However because of the angle of the panel, your hole needs to be lower than you initially think. You can see the rubber plug where I didn’t take into account the angle. I already needed to order a new cover because mine was damaged from an earlier experiment.

I liked the Sasquatch button, so I borrowed it.

Were you able to get to the wire assembly to cut in the switch from the lower panel or did you still have to remove a lot of the center dash ?

You still have to remove the 4 trim pieces around the AC panel and remove AC to get to the wires.

Looks like Fords not the only company to decide we are too stupid to know what we want. I have a Tundra rental this week and you can’t lock it while it’s running. Closing the door and using remote doesn’t work either, neither does actuating the lock manually.

This has apparently been a "feature" on many Toyotas since 2016...

A former co-worker said all the Tundra guys have a workaround and it's pretty stupid to have to do this.

You need two keys. Start it up, roll the window down and reach out and manually lock it with the physical key from the fob as the remote and interior buttons won't do it. Then roll the window up....

There may be a setting in the infotainment system to enable auto lock at speed like Jeeps have. The Grand Cherokee rental I have now has this and had to be enabled in the settings.

It was on my 97 Avalon, but I think only if the car was off and you tried to lock it from the switch.

The Japanese makes all have a thing about being locked out of a car. Anyone else remember having to hold the door handle up when you closed a locked door? I know Mazda did that, maybe Nissan too.

@HammaMan are you suggesting we just stuff a dessicant bag into the humidity sensor?

If it works, it ain't stupid..

On a different note, if we can identify at what point the system kicks over to fresh air and put a resistor or something inline on the humidity sensor circuit to fool it into thinking it's dryer than it is might work. Or 3d print an enclosure for the sensor with said desiccant pack to maintain low humidity preventing the system from randomly opening. One thing to think is Ford also engineered a timed switch in this setup like they did in the 5th gen Rangers. those don't use a humidity sensor, instead every 5 minutes it would kick over to fresh air if the desired air temp is warmer than ambient. In that case the interrupt switch may still be the best option to prevent the hvac from switching to fresh air.

I absolutely hate this feature and a lot of the other nanny features on my 2021 F-150. I will never buy a newer truck again. I like to be able to control my HVAC system and other features of the car. If I want to open the door to look at something while in a drive gear, I do not need the stupid truck shifter to go into park. These features that you cannot disable without rewiring the truck are making me want to get rid of my truck. I live in the desert and have never had a foggy window. Yet, the recirculation turns off so I have to worry about dust, diesel and other road smells coming into my cabin....so annoying. I wish Ford would listen to their customers and actually get feedback to update the truck for what the customers want and not the lawyers. Has anyone been able to use Forscan or other tuning device to disable features?

Agree with you 100%. I live here in Houston and there's nothing nicer than smelling fumes in my truck as I sit in city traffic.

As for forscan....many have tried...but failed. It's all documented in this thread.

Fortunately, in Houston, you won't have to deal with having your temps set above ambient much of the year.

I'm south of you and am already safe from the nuisance.

It happens at least 1/2 the year for me here in H-Town....so still a massive annoyance.

I wasn't expecting that reply.
My truck has been set on 68F for a year.
It seems like that ambient is in the rear view mirror, unless I wanted to run an errand at 3am? :)

Anyways, just messing with the subject a bit.

My truck is set below ambient 10 months of the year, but the recirculation still turned off every 3 minutes... hence why I rewired it.
