There are now three separate threads following this issue—the ECU thread, the trailer brake failure thread, and now this one. Hopefully, we all continue to provide consistent guidance.

Something not yet mentioned in this thread that is complicating the recall rollout is that there is an earlier TRM update that was released around the end of February to address SSM 50226–False Alarm Activation. That update is still out there because it wasn’t a recall. A dealer will apply it only if a customer complaint matches the bulletin description. My concern is that people going in too soon for the recall might end up getting this earlier software that addresses a different condition. It’s not the dealer’s fault. FDRS does not differentiate among different versions of software for the same module and the oldest unapplied version tends to be the one that remains in FDRS until it is installed, cleared and a new network scan is performed which would bring up the next version in the queue.

I have this earlier TRM software installed and don’t see anything new in FDRS as of this morning. So the recall software hasn’t been posted yet as @BlackSheep mentioned. For others that haven’t installed it, you can’t necessarily assume that the recall software is available for your truck just because a TRM update appears in FDRS. It could still be the earlier update.
Thanks for the reply and information. I started this thread after I noticed the recall to talk specifically about this recall/issue. The ECU thread is excellent, but it is also huge. I'll check out the trailer brake thread since you mentioned it @JEB

I’m not criticizing the thread itself. It’s a valid and valuable contribution. The problem is that it could invite forum-shopping. When someone doesn’t like the answer they get on one thread, they just post the same question on another and pretty soon you have to monitor multiple threads to figure out what’s actually going on.

If we do this ourselves via FDRS is there any way to confirm the recall was done to the Ford mothership? If not, I think I will have to go the dealer route despite having all the stuff to do it myself.

Got 3 on my 2021 truck. Build date of October 2021. This one for the trailer relay module, Powertrain Control Module Software Update (will go in Neutral while driving due to a transmission pressure low diagnostic code which will falsely activate and cause it to shift into neutral state.), and the Loose sagging underbody insulators.

I am at a dealership right now in Houston Tx and they just asked me if I wanted to get a Trailer module recall done and a power train. Also a wiper motor recall.

I'm curious if the available update is still the previous update or the new update.

Ask them for a photo of the FDRS Module updates available for your truck.

Or if they can document the version your TRM module is at after the update.

I am taking my PB in on Wednesday for the Trailer Relay Module recall, they said it'd just take a couple of hours. He still doesn't have the parts for the sagging insulators... and doesn't expect them for at least a month, probably longer. If they inspect a truck and there is ANY sagging... it doesn't have to be touching the drive shaft... they will "down the truck" until it's fixed.

Hmm... I've seen several things with my trailer attached.
1. It doesn't tell me a trailer is attached anymore.
2. It doesn't track the trailer mileage like it's supposed to.
3. Sometimes the blind spot detection doesn't work with the trailer attached even though I set it up.

I can go in and select the trailer and the lights screen works.

This is interesting.
So this AM I received the recall notice from Carfax, nothing from my dealer or even the Ford Pass app. Maybe it doesn't apply to my VIN#? Need to place a call to the dealer.

UPDATE
Called dealer.
They say there is no fix for this yet it is a pre-notification. Information from Ford corporate instructs them NOT to attempt any update yet????? And they cannot schedule yet.
I asked why other dealers (per this thread) have the update but they don't. She had no explanation.

Interesting. I just called my dealer this morning and they scheduled me for 2 weeks from now, but included this recall in the order:

Ford F-150 Recall: REPROGRAM INTEGRATED TRAILER RELAY MODULE (Campaign/NHTSA#
22S17/22v193) 1648830660050

I’m not surprised the software isn’t available now. I would not be surprised if we saw the software within the next two weeks. Both what you and @DT400 are hearing could be true.

Had my truck in for service this AM. Was informed about the pending recall, but told that the software wasn't available yet.
