If you mean that they are dumping the all-battery REV and pivoting the Ramcharger to be the new REV, then yes.

In the end, its 7 less letters to put on everything, so lower the initial cost some. :p

I paid to be part of the insider program and as of yet have not received this email.

So, for now, they want us to believe the original RamCharger is still alive. I am looking for any signs to indicate "proof of life". There have been random spy photos of the Ramcharger but lately total silence. Given the tariff turmoil hitting Stellantis with production shifts all across the model lines, it is not a good time to introduce a "new to the world" truck chassis. And the Stellantis track record with all things EV has been poor.

The Jeep 4xe does well as a plug in hybrid 🤷🏻‍♂️

Pity really, I thought the Ramcharger was a great name for it.

However a name is only a name and this could be good news and bad news.

Good - They will focus on this model and devote much of the electric resources to this new model. Which they should have done from the start.

Bad - This doesn't give me hope that production was right around the corner. I would be shocked if design features do not need to be changed and that could slow down the release. I do wish that a sentence was added to address this in that insider email. The lack of saying what effect this will have on production could a little troubling.

Yes I thought our Grand Cherokee 4xe rental last summer in Grand Teton NP worked well. I was considering one for my commute where I might have been able to go on battery power alone (around a 25mi range I believe). Main downside was the tiny 2.0 turbo got loud going up grade when the battery was depleted. But that shouldn't be an issue with the REV.

The turbo 4 scoots our Wrangler Sahara around pretty effortlessly but it’s not a plugin and weighs about #1000 less than the Cherokee.
Personal situations dictate whether an EV or plug-in hybrid can be just the ticket!
I don’t own either type yet, but I certainly include them when looking to purchase. I love more choices! 😊

They've been recalled about 6 times, not going to chance burning my house down to park one of those in the garage.

I’m certainly not going to waste time defending something I don’t even own, but I like having more choices.
I think ICE vehicles catch fire at higher rate than EVs, and PHEVs carry both risks.
I haven’t used “risk of fire” as a factor when considering vehicles but again I circle back to choices 😊

I'm interested in the Ramcharger/REV. Its a concept I could see working well. Won't be first one on the block to get one, however.

Besides the cost and poor sales of pure EV's, my understanding is that the recent BBB passed by the federal government has removed all fines for CAFE violations, making CAFE de-facto eliminated. I have to imagine that combining all these factors has lead to a lot of automakers rethinking their EV programs. I also wonder if it is partly the reason for the HEMI return.

Agree about the Ramcharger in all respects, but I'm not sure how much the de-facto elimination of CAFE will change things. It takes years to get a car in the pipeline and car companies turn like aircraft carriers. Plus, they know that there might be a new administration and Congress in 3 years that undo the policies of this one.
