I'm looking at the Rad retractable straps that I can mount on the boxlink system of our truck.

Anyone have these? Are they worth the extra cost compared to some I see on Amazon that are half the price?

I’ve tried these and I sent them back. The quality was good, but they were expensive. My biggest deal was I didn’t like the idea have an mounted ratchet strap.

melted strap assembly just isn’t as convenient in versatile as a standard strap, and I didn’t like the idea that they would be out in the elements as opposed to being rolled up and in the storage underneath the back seat

I bought 1 of the retractable straps that I pasted below from Amazon. I agree with FaaWrench, I would not have bought if I didn't have a tonneau cover to keep the weather off of it. I find it very convenient because I cannot close the tonneau cover when I take curtain thing in my truck and use it to hold them down. This one is much cheaper than most, and the quality is fine for what I use it for. I also like that the tiedowns on the sides are rounded so that I can install and remove my home-made bed divider without it getting in the way.

I looked into them but deiced it was cheaper and simpler to keep a set of Husky retractable tie-down straps under the rear back seat storage along with several sets of paracord ropes and carabiners as well. This way they are always ready for when I need them, didn't cost much and never have to worry about dirt/grime mucking them up.

I made my own using the brackets that are there and Rhino straps. I have a bed cover so they are protected. They mainly get used in the winter.

I have the RAD straps...one set is the original and one set is the new 2.0 swivel. They are well built and work perfectly. They are expensive, but if you have the coin, then they are the best option. For reasons mentioned above, I also keep a set of Gorilla ratchet straps under the back seat if the need arises. The RAD straps take care of nearly everything, and they at least add a convenient support option when I have to use a regular strap for the main-strap on something irregular.
RAD does have sales from time to time to help with the price.

I have them and love them. As a builder, I'm constantly putting something like half a dozen 2x4's in the back that I don't want sliding around when I'm going around a corner.

It's easy to just pull it out and either wrap it around and back to the mounts (which I also installed) or across to the other side. I've mounted 2, one on each side at the rear. They easily retract by just a press of a button or pull out the same way. If you look closely in my pics, you'll see the tie down plates which means I can use other (larger) tie downs if needed or simply secure one RAD strap to the other side as shown in the photo.

It depends completely on how often you need to tie something down... for me I got sick of spending time unraveling and de-knoting my stack of tie downs just to secure a small load....

They are totally worth it for me...
