@rugedraw thank you for taking the time out of your day! This system works way better than the original. Feels a lot more natural. Such a helpful forum!

I did some I-10 flying to see family in San Antonio yesterday. I say flying because there were several occasions where 81 mph (indicated. Actually 79.5) just wasn't fast enough to keep the flow happy, so with Bluecruise engaged, at 82+ it would switch to "hands-on" mode, as expected.
But, when I went to change lanes and tapped the blinker, I was surprised to see the instrument cluster announce "Preparing for Lane Change"???

I don't ever remember Lane Change Assist functioning in Hands-on mode. I was surprised and intentionally attempted 82+ mph Bluecruise-hands-on lane changes. Confirmed that is a feature.

I wonder if this is the kind of thing that was included with the FDRS Bluecruise updates that were released months after the BC 1.4 original release last Christmas? Or did I just never notice it for the many thousands of miles of Bluecruise driving I've done?

You didn't notice it, it's been there. Only works in the BC areas though

That's just evidence that I don't experience a lot of Hands-free disengaging to hands-on.

It'd be great if Ford would just carry that over to the non-BC trucks that do have Adaptive Cruise and Lane Centering.

They won't. That would give people less of an incentive to keep a BC subscription active. :)

You're probably right, but it should be noted that 100% of the refinements to the Adaptive Cruise and Lane management code portion of Bluecruise, is automatically enjoyed by the non-Bluecruise vehicle owner.

It's the same software stack. Those non-BC VINs get the "BC updates" as well.

The USB ones you can install with the truck running. It's really the IPMA that tends to give people problems. The CMR (if equipped) can take close to an hour, too, do depending on the state of charge of the battery at the time the update is started, this one can be problematic without a power supply, too.

Plus, if any of the USB updates fail and have to be pushed through with the cable, those can take 2-6 hours to do, so it is always a best practice to just use the power supply and avoid problems.

It wasn't until I used FDRS on my Mach-E that I discovered just how good we have it with needing just a small (20Amp) powersupply for our trucks, with these updates.

The same updates that take a long time on the Powerboost, take a long time on the Mach-E. But the Mach-E has a teeny tiny H3 battery, AND can draw 40+ amps while it runs all the coolant pumps during the update.

Electric with a Capital E ?
