When will we really start seeing these on lots? Wondering if it’s worth waiting or taking my order that is coming in next week. If it’s a month, might be worth the wait.

The Ram 60/40 tailgate is a better design although it adds $2,000 to the price of the truck with the required packages to add it.

I need to be able to climb up into the bed and the existing tailgate with the pull-out step and grab bar is perfect. It is safe and easy to go up and to go back down to the ground. It is why I bought a Ford F-150 in 2022 instead of a Ram 1500.

I believe 4/29 is the first week of PAT builds (mine being one of them, hopefully).

I agree, the tailgate if it's on my truck right now is perfect, there's a step when you need it and when you don't you almost forget that it's not there. I was excited to hear that they were working on a new tailgate, but I feel less than enthused with this new one. The step that they do offer hangs down below the bumper kind of like a Nissan Titan step, it looks sloppy and afterthought. There is merit to opening the gate with a RV attached, but them not integrating a step into it is a step back in my opinion. Hopefully they still offer the ones that are current in the future.

I think Fords idea is you buy the rear step with the tailgate. Then you open one side of the tailgate and use the other 1/2 as a hold to step up into the bed.

Its not something I would want. Looking at the build it site, looks like its wrapped up in an option package or two.

I also hate to think of the additional payload it gobbles up. Could we see an F150 with Tundra like payloads under 1,000lbs?

Rear bumper was modified to better work with the PAT as a step into the bed. The retractable rear center step is a stand alone option not needed for PAT but it will provide a 3-step entry vs 2-step with previous TG.

The pull out step & handle is perfect for me. Our faithful 2013 had one. The truck was on a dealer lot and I would have never ordered the step. After owning the 2013 two weeks I was sold on it. So easy to get in & out. The pull out step was a must have when looking for a replacement. The 2023 Lariat PB on the lot had the newer version of the pull out step & handle and it's even better.

The Ford tailgate may be good for putting groceries in the bed of the truck if that is what you would actually do. I put plants or 4x8 sheets or bikes in the bed of my truck and I need something to grab onto when climbing up inside the bed.

My 2022 Ford with the special tailgate with the integrated step and post is by far the best for having access to the bed. I wish that the tailgate could drop down vertically so I could get 18 inches closer to toss heavy items into the bed and if that was critical I would go with Ram trucks as their design is simply better in many respects.

My last two trucks were from Chevrolet and I have owned 5 Toyota pickups, but when I looked at my criteria for a new pickup in 2022 it came down to ones from Ford or Ram and Chevy and Toyota did not make the cut for multiple reasons. I have no reason whatsoever to be loyal to a particular auto manufacturer.

I think a lot of us need to hold judgment until we actually experience one. It’s not too much like ford to add something that doesn’t take a previous manufacturers option to the next level. I’ve had the step on every truck since it came out, and love it. However, I now have the Poverty Model, and it was not an option. I miss it.

I just called my dealership to have them add a PAT tailgate to my platinum order. Did I make the wrong choose? What does everyone think. And has anyone have problems with it yet.

I don’t think anyone on here has received a PAT truck yet.

Also, they are standard (in the Bed Utility Package) on all Platinums built after 4/29, so there is no adding or deleting. If you’ve ordered a platinum and it isn’t built yet, you’re getting the PAT regardless.

Semi-cross-post - I *should* have my PAT equipped KR by week's end. Truck's blend date was 09 May, so approx. 1 month from blend to delivery.

I wonder how many will be missing some type of hardware before they get it right.

I’m assuming you meant May 09 correct?
