This is the message I have gotten for about the last 10 months or so. It would warm me. Then I would drive anyway and shut it off when I stopped. When I would get back in and start, it would go away. Each time it happened, I had the wrench symbol illuminated on the dash.

I finally got tired of this happening and went to my dealer. They looked at it today. When I picked it up they told me they did 2 things. One, they looked at axel bolts and said they passed inspection. Great, no service needed.
2nd, they told me there is a TSB on my powertrain issue. They have to order parts. They are going to give me a new battery, a new starter and a new alternator! Wow, not bad for a TSB. They told me that it's an issue with the system between the starter and the alternator. That is killing the battery. We'll see how it turns out when they have the parts. All of this should be a recall. So, so many owners having their batteries drained and ruined. Costing Ford a mint. A 2024, same build as a 22 or to 23 is $16000 higher. That's nuts.

Also, I'm a little ticked off. The damn dealer did whatever they did to check my issue, but one part of it must have been turn on all the lights and drain his battery. Then give it back to me with a battery that is 35% charged!! Really@#$$ I'm calling them tomorrow to complain and rip em. I had not been getting any " turning off to save power" messages. That is, until I got back from the dealer and then I put it on my charger. Come on man!!
So I finally got an email about the Power Train malfunction. When I called dealer for appt, the check engine light disappeared and they could not see a code. They said ot needed SW update and issue has not come back but the battery draining message keeps appearing now.

Update on my end. In my case, it looks like I was just approved for them to rebuild my transmission. Parts are ordered, so it’ll be a week or more before I get it back and see if that finally took care of my issue.

Well I think they are doing something to my transmission as well but not sure. Only update I got today was broken bolts on the turbo so it’s delayed and may need a new turbo. Hoping to get a better update soon

Got my truck back on Friday after the fix for a bad CDF drum. Granted, I don’t see a new CDF drum in the long list of parts. Drove home from work yesterday, and the DTC comes back in just like before. They may have fixed something, but it wasn’t this issue. Just scheduled my 5th time back to a dealer, for this DTC. I’ve already had to pay my warranty deductible twice since the first dealer had to send me to a larger dealer after the 3rd attempt.

So I got this yesterday leaving work. This is the second time. Last time was in March within a week of also getting the Service Charging System alert when the BMS reset fixed it. I drove a little bit to the grocery store, stopped, went inside and got a cold drink. Came out, restarted, and it was all clear, went away just like last time after a reboot.

Contacted dealer and they sent me this picture they pulled from their system.

At first I was thinking it was just a software handshake glitch, but now I'm thinking it may be BISG related to TSB #23-2347 https://www.f150gen14.com/forum/thr...r-3-5l-powerboost-hybrid-v6.20822/post-406045

Mobile tech coming out Tuesday, first available appointment at dealer with a loaner not until June, although I could just drop it off earlier with a rental possibly.

They came out and did two tests. Both batteries passed stress tests. Found slightly loose terminals on both under hood pos + and under back seat pos +. They said no codes appeared, watched them follow flow charts on their laptops. They said if it happens again, they'll replace the BISG no question, but have to do it at the shop.

I picked up a 2024 PW XLT 1 week ago, has <200 miles and received this fault code. Reading all these posts has me worried-lease ended on my 2021 XLT (not PW), so this is not my first rodeo with these hybrid trucks. Love the truck, not all the issues! New truck is at the dealership, and was told it would take 2 days to diagnose bc of the ’high traffic volume’. ?

Hi All - It's me again...

Today & 11,422 miles later, I have another P0A1E:00-AF (BISG) code on my 2022 Platinum PB.

Last year's failure occurred on 12/10/23, resulted in BISG replacement. This year, the same code has presented itself within a week of a year later. This makes me wonder if this is truly a 12V battery issue.

Anyone else have this happening with their PB? I know the 24s don't have to worry about this. Truck starts, but the other day I swear I caught the boost gauge spiking for no reason at all and the truck felt labored. I've had a couple of issues recently with the cabin lights not being on, and the "Power off to save battery" messages on the screen.

Taking the truck in for the PCM/Catalytic Converter recall, will be adding this to the list. But I find the timing to be interesting considering the dealer replaced the BISG a year ago...

It came back on. Had a dude I know In Florida run pinpoint. Comes up as a P0A1E code for starter control generator.

this code apparently was coming up for previous owner about 10k ago. They replaced the battery then. My battery is running at 88% health and 14.2v so doubt it’s a loose connection.

I am trying to reach dealer tomrorow but seeing as it’s Xmas and now idk if I can make it to my family 75 miles away…

Update - replaced the BISG under the TSB 23-2347. I haven’t driven it enough to make a full analysis but what I’ll definitely say off the bat is my mpg went from 19.5-20 (on this route I usually take) to 26.5mpg. I feel the engaging of the ICE from electric mode is smoother and hasn’t gone into limp mode yet.

maybe something to look into for others in the post with P0A1E

I have a 2022 PB with 39k miles and the powertrain malfunction message came up. Took into the dealer and their diagnosis was the BISG needed replacing.

They said it wasn’t covered under warranty, even with the premier esp plan.

Sounds like most people in this chain had this covered under warranty correct? I mean the message literally says “powertrain malfunction”.

I'm surprised that ESP Premier wouldn't cover it. From what I understand, it basically covers everything except the exclusions. Isn't it actually worded that way?
It's the whole point of getting coverage beyond just "powertrain".

The BISG isn't a wear item for crying outloud. :(

Time to get the policy out and read the fine print?

Yeah I mean there’s a TSB for it that refers to ESP. The BSIG is considered an electrical component I think. TSB 23-2347
