I recently installed the FitcamX dash cam that is powered by my rearview mirror. I'm happy with it during my drives, but I wanted to also utilize its parking mode feature so I ordered the OBD cord that is supposed to constantly supply power.

The cord arrived earlier this week and I installed it. It works just fine driving, and when I turn off the truck the cameras remain functional but then turn off in a few minutes. That happens in both the loop recording (continuous recording) and shock sensor mode that only records when it detects a bump. Their support is telling me their OBD cord is compatible with hybrids, but I'm questioning it.

Has anyone else used their OBD port to power an accessory like a dash cam and had it stay on while parked?

I’ve never heard of any special requirements for hybrid vehicles. I have a Vantrue N2pro with the OBD cable in my Powerboost that I’ve been using for nearly 3 years and haven’t had any issues with parking mode.

Thanks. I keep messing with it and see if I can get it to receive power and stay in parking mode more than 2 minutes.

I know mine goes into a power saving mode when I turn the truck off. I know it’s in parking mode because the charging light blinks. Most dash cams with parking mode do this so it doesn’t drain the battery. I’ve been in parking mode for 10 hours and haven’t seen any issues.

From what I know the OBD port on the PB should stay active between 60-90 minutes after the key off. If it's shutting down sooner than this it's likely that one or both of the 12v batteries have a low SOC and are causing the truck to shut the power down early. Since OP has a 21 there's a good chance this is the case or the BMS needs to be reset as it will start putting non-essential modules into low power mode or deep sleep after about 3 years of monitoring the existing battery. This is Ford's solution to extend the life on aging AGM batteries and reduce parasitic drain even if the battery is not weak.

If you have not replaced the both the primary and aux batteries you may want to consider doing so, resetting the BMS, and also add at least a 20AH LifP04 battery piggy backed to the aux cell to vastly increase the power reserve on the 12v circuit.

on the aux battery under the rear set what is a good check on that one ? and any pictures of adding the extra battery ?
