Phone as a key?

One of the things I greatly miss from my totaled Lightning is the phone as a key. I see you can use FORScan to add the menu options for this but of course it doesn’t work. No gurus have figured out what parts to order to make this work in a 24 F150? I hate carrying this big key fob around now.

It's been investigated, by some of the gurus here on the forum, I can't find the thread. But I believe it was concluded that you need a different TCU and some additional hardware that wasn't able to be incorporated into the truck.

Correct, the ICE trucks do not have the hardware to support the feature.

I believe so at least for 21 to 23 my. I see now you have a 24, I think these trucks now have a different TCU. I know they now support 5g connection as aposed to the previous 4g. That won't make the difference. But maybe with the new hardware, an upgrade to paak could be possible. This is beyond my knowledge though. And maybe it should be reinvestigted.

Need a BTLE module, don't think anyone has tried to wire one in and locate all of the associated changes needed to make it work.

But you can just keep the keyfob in the truck and use the doorpad button or phone app to lock/unlock and also the phone to start the vehicle. Is that not 90+% of what you're trying to accomplish?

Guess we gotta wait for gen 15, should only be about 2 more years. Hopefully the next f150 will be a plug in hybrid too

If you have a 2024, it can be done. It is on the common tab of the spreadsheet. It does not mention the software of the BCM needs to be at a certain level, so as long as all 2024's are built with an RFA module, this should work and can always be changed back to what was there before if it doesn't work.

this is walk away lock which is different than Phone as a key. Maybe someone smarter at all this than me will figure it out and I’ll copy them ?.

So dumb the walkway lock isn't available until 2024

We have an aftermarket Compustar keylocker device install that can accomplish this similarly, of course it is not a Ford product and uses its own App service (Drone Mobile) which works with their alarm and remote start remotes too and can do 'walk away lock' etc... Here is a video to get the idea of it.
Also, with the rash of Relay Attacks happening on all Smartkey cars, everyone should have a full setup (alarm, pushbutton disabler, etc.) installed now because all the OEM Keyfob security portions is unsafe and should go to a new digital format in phones.
