The point is that the whole 'switch' to disable the airbag wasn't a physical bag disconnect as some may be misinterpreting it. It told the RCS system to turn off the bag just as the seat pressure switch does. If the RCS malfunctions, the bag can still fire regardless of switch position.

My 04 Ram had an ON/Off switch for the passenger air bag.
I think the reason Dodge installed a switch was to allow for a child seat in the front passenger position. I don't believe Ford recommends installing a child seat in the front passenger position on the F150.

Wait. You have literally owned vehicles where you could manually turn the passenger airbag on/off? Maybe I have as well and just never noticed it, but I cant think of a vehicle I have owned that was built this century where the vehicle didn’t auto detect if a person was sitting in the passenger seat and thereby turn the airbag on/off.
both my 2002 f350 and 2006 f350 had a key hole thing to turn it off

weird is the word
all my other fords had a notice in IP or on dash that it was off, based on weight i believe is what i read

Mine was a single cab like my current truck.

I had a single cab ford and it had a switch for the passenger airbag because there is no back seat so you’re forced to put the car seat up front. That’s the reason for the off switch. Crew cabs don’t have a switch because there is a back seat.
Does anyone know how to turn that on/off light off.
