Parking Brake Warning & Auto Hold Issues – Possible Connection?

Hi all,

I’ve been having a recurring issue with my truck for the past six weeks. Every time I shift into Park, the parking brake pop-up appears, and the red brake icon lights up on the dash. This happens consistently.

Before this started, I had another issue with Auto Hold—mainly when going downhill. The brakes would suddenly grab hard and bring the truck to a complete stop, almost like an emergency brake.

I’m wondering if these two problems could be related somehow. Has anyone experienced something similar or know what the underlying cause might be?

You're not the only one having this problem. My truck does it too randomly when I come to a complete stop and shift to park. I haven't found an answer on why it does it, but I'm guessing it's a software glitch. It has not done so while moving.

Maybe the stop, and putting into park fairly quickly does it, sets the Ebrake.
Happened to me a couple times.

This.... mine does it when I am too fast into park after stopping.


Try a little slower and see if it still happens.

Mine does it all the time, I thought it was a feature not a bug..? I do throw it in park and jump out quick a lot

It occurs whether I delay exiting or not.

Only time mine has dome something like this is when I had the auto parking break enabled.

It happens to me a lot when backing up to the garage and alerted of objects near. Also seems to occur on slight slopes when putting into park and turning engine off.
