Heard a noise walking up to my truck (off). Went to drive and noticed brake was on, I never set it. The noise I heard was the parking brake being set. Is there a feature I’m not aware of!? This is so bizarre, bring it up or let it be?

Mine has done it a couple times randomly as well, I’m not sure why

When I approach my truck I hear a noise but it is coming from under the hood. I have had the park brake come on if I do not press the brake firm enough and put the truck in park or when the truck rocks slightly. Some kind of safety I think.

This happened to me yesterday. Parking brake engaged as I opened the door. When I started my truck, my MyView settings had reset. Not sure what triggered it, but hopefully it doesn't become a common occurrence.

Anybody ever figure this out? Happened to me this morning for the second time in ~5,000 miles, and just as you guys described it, My View, gauge selection, and some general vehicle settings were all reset to default. I'm thinking one of two things:

1) The truck had some sort of update overnight and the parking brake application is Ford's way of alerting us to an update?

2) It has been raining all night/morning, so maybe moisture is playing a role in silly electronics behavior? My 2015 GMC Canyon frequently had touchscreen issues during/after a good rain.

Any thoughts?

i got a notice in ford owner online that i was not up to date on latest update, so i parked truck since sat near my wifi, truck said i was all good, but ford showed i was not.
now for site shows all good
i have not opened her up to see if my settings are changed.
a side not the tailgate would not open with fob sat, despite numerous attempts with fob
i had to use the button on tail gate and at home i had to use button on lwr dash.

I always use the parking brake but there’s definitely some weird solenoid noise from under the truck when I approach it. Weirder still, I have a regular key in my XLT and not a fob; so it’s strange that the truck still senses my presence!

Or maybe it's not strange that it sense your presence....

I've been trying to figure out why my e-brake sometimes sets itself and other times it doesn't when I park in the garage and I think it's part of what Kanuck mentioned in his post.

Myself I noticed the other day that when I parked, the truck rolled a little afterwards when I put it in park and then it set the park brake automatically. My garage floor is uneven so sometimes it rocks and other times it doesn't depending on where I park.

For the ones where it comes on, are you bumping the truck somehow? Just guessing here???

Mine has set itself a couple times. Seems to happen on an incline. So, I thought it was automatic.

My parking brake said it was engaged when it wasn't. I had this constant terrible digging when I drove, warning me that it was engaged, but it wasn't. I shut the car off, came back a few hours later and it was fine.

The next morning as I walked towards it I heard the parking brake engagebefore i got in the car. I spent a good deal of time trying to get it to disengage so I could drive to work (about 30 minutes). It was due for a state inspection two days later. I dropped it off and purposely set the brake so they could see the problem. They ultimately replaced the left parking brake actuator under the warranty. This occurred in late July 2022.

It's a 2021 March 2021 build that had about 10,800 miles at the time.

Happened to me this morning. Wouldn't remote start from FOB or App. Ebrake activated when I unlocked it, guage settings and My View both reset. Easy enough fix, and it's the first time it's happened, just trying to figure out why.

I'm still convinced that there's some kind of communication between the truck and the cloud that is triggering this single instance event. Too many reports of it all very recently.
I may never get confirmation, of course.
