Got my ‘22 Lariat last week, 501A, 360 assist. I was stopped on a relatively steep downslope today leaving my daughter’s daycare with a relatively dangerous cross-traffic situation that doesn’t stop.

As I started to accelerate to make the turn, my parking brake apparently engaged (not sure when, as I was watching for my opportunity to go) and caused the truck to lurch when I tried to pull out.

Thankfully, it didn’t cause any issues ( or a crash), but is there a setting I’m missing to avoid this occurring? Seems odd that the parking brake would engage while in drive.

Any insight is appreciated. Thanks, y’all.

Good morning! Would you please send over a private message with your VIN and the name/location of your local Ford dealer? I would like to look further into this parking brake concern for you.

I’ve actually had the same thing happen with my 22 lariat, my parking brake has engaged a couple times automatically when going into park…I thought is was strange..hopefully they’ll find a fix

When going into park is as designed, no fix needed. Will do it based on a few different parameters. Often when it doesn’t feel you’re pressing the brake pedal hard enough or when you’re on an incline. Also will do it after using certain camera views that would lend themselves to being from lining up with a trailer ball

Yeah, I’m fine with the auto-engage when in park. We have a steep driveway that it’s helpful on.

I definitely wasn’t putting it into park the other day. Haha. FMC contacted me on here and has opened a case. I’ll post what they find out.

Oh yeah, your issue sounds different than the one I was talking about. Yours definitely doesn’t sound as designed, I’ve never had mine come on automatically in drive. The only thing I could think of is one time in my previous car I sat in drive with auto hold on and after 10 minutes (train crossing) it told me “auto hold time limit exceeded. Park brake set.” But that doesn’t sound like what’s going on with you. I hope FMC gets this figured out for you

I’ve had this happen 4 or 5 times, I have auto hold on and I’m not sure if that’s the reason why, seems to happen when the truck is shut off at a light from the auto start/ stop, if I lightly hit the peddle to start the truck back up and disengage auto hold it seems to happen. I don’t know if it’s me confusing the truck by pressing the gas then letting off of the gas quickly.
