Hello all,
BLUF - Does anyone know if the 2024 PB will have a higher GVWR than the 2023 PB?
We are replacing our 2020 3.5 EB with a 2024 PB (ordered) and were wondering if anyone heard of a change to GVWR change from 2023 to 2024? The 2023 information says #7350 which is up from #7300 in 2021 and my wife said that she saw on FB that it would go up to #7400.
My wife feels like the TT (#7200 max, usually closer to #6500) sometimes feels too much for our EB (#7000 GVWR) and thus our move to a PB with a higher GVWR. Right now with the EB we regularly come within #50 of GVWR when towing (#950 tongue (measured), #400 for humans and dog, #150 tonneau and Linex so about #125-150 for bed stuff like generator, gas, water, tables, chairs, tools, etc.). Based on our research of similarly configure 2023s (sorry dear, wrong color!) we believe payload will be in the low 1600s; drop the generator and gas from the bed and our weights-and-measures should be comparable to current.
Thanks in advance

Sticker shows 7400lb on platinum. Not carrying the gen will help. The additional mass of the PB will help overall stability but it won't be night and day difference. Most of the PB's additional mass is more forward than rearward due to the modules and motor. Use RAS or airbags to level, add a rear sway. GVWR isn't as much of a factor as is keeping the rear axle's load limit in mind.

I can't see you noticing an iota of difference between the trucks when towing (other than them being different gen trucks). Not sure what your order is for the new one but you may end up with a lower payload # than you have now.

If you're really after a comfortable towing experience and can live with the truck day to day you may want to step up to the superduty. I went the other way from a superduty to a 150 and the 150 is ok with my 5000lb trailer but with the superduty you hardly felt it. I think that's just physics when the tow vehicle weighs more than the trailer.

True and even though the heaviest 150 weighs surprisingly close to, if not more than, the lightest 250 it punches a bigger hole in the air reducing the pressure and drag on a large surface area trailer. In fact, towing is the reason the 250/350 exist lol.

You say you think you will see low 1600s. Are you getting another Lariat? That might be optimistic if so.

I am at 1537 and my truck doesn't have most of the heavy options. No power tailgate/tailgate step, no moon roof, no FX4, no factory bedliner. The only heavy thing I have is power running boards and they are less than most of those other things.

All the big ticket items except the fancy seats and the Max Tow.

Add the LineX and the DiamondBack HD I have ordered, more like 1250!!

I got 1765 which I think is good, no PB just PP2K. Get the super duty and cargo weight and towing will not matter. 5.0 Max tow may be an option for the OP.

I don’t think you will have the payload with a PB. I have a 21 PB Platinum FX4 every option except max recline seats and my payload is terrible, I didn’t realize it like most that it would be an issue. I didn’t understand how payload mattered until after I bought a rv. Now I am debating buying a super duty. This is my stickers and weight sheet with a Ember 201FBQ (5,255lbs dry) (GVWR 7250) with myself, daughter, dog and usual under seat tools in the truck, nothing in the bed. Approximately ~700lbs tounge weight. I have towed twice now with this setup, adjusting weight and the truck does just fine but I can tell the trailer is there and being limited by payload that I can’t take anything else is a problem. If towing ~1600lbs is your goal, I would look at a F250 so you have extra payload to bring “things”. I would not recommend a PB. Also the hybrid does nothing for fuel economy when towing.

Yeah, bottom line is I'm not sure 1600 is even possible on a Lariat 4x4 PowerBoost. Maybe just barely if it's a 501a without anything added to it.

At 1537, I'm on the higher end of what I've seen posted for this trim/powertrain combination.

I don't think you could do it anymore, but in '21 and '22 you could. My '21 502A has a 1590 lb payload and I have the power tailgate. I don't have many other "heavy" options on my truck though. They packaged a lot of items together in '23 and even more so for the '24 models, so getting a higher trim with decent options and payload is much harder.

My truck. Note this excludes the weight of my fiberglass ford quad fold tonneau cover, sprayin bedliner and other items as in floor mats, wheel well liners etc. Pretty much fully loaded

I have a 2021 Lariat PB as equipped from the factory with 501A package, tow tech (includes 360 cameras), chrome running boards, co pilot assist 2.0, liner mats, PPO 7.2KW, work surface, console, and two tone paint (adds a few ounces :)). The pay load on the yellow sticker is 1643 lbs. I think it's a good compromise and shows you can get a decently equipped Lariat with over 1600 lbs pay load.

That's a good number. When I was looking at other leftover 23s, mine was the highest number I found.

I wasn't super concerned about payload, but it was a byproduct of my search. I was trying to find something with a lower sticker price without giving up my non negotiables like 360° Cameras and the 502a package. Some of the trucks I found were nearly $80k because they had so many boxes checked - and their payloads were abysmal.
