Hey hey —

Another suspension question for all you educated people out there!! I've been running Fox 2.5s on my 21' 3.5EB for the past ~60k miles. I've had to rebuild the rears 3 times, and now due for a rebuild on the front for the 2nd time since owning them. Let's just say, after FOX had my rears for literally 7 weeks, I'm not going down that path again. I will be switching brands. Not to mention, I never really found the 2.5s to be all that special — as a daily, they were a bit stiff. Casual offroad, also a bit stiff. Hard rallying down washboard or pothole roads, they were badass! Big dips, badsass. Big whoops (waterbars), could have been better. I've ran them with a bed rack / RTT / hard rolling tonneau (best setup), a Four Wheel Camper Project-M, and now, bare bones bed w/ your typical array of tools/toys in the back.

I'm going to swap out all four corners in one fell swoop and have landed on two options:
Bilstein 6112/5160 or Eibach Pro 2R

What I want out of this setup:
- Plush small bump compliance
- Big hit control
- Maintenance Free
- I do NOT care about on-road performance, as I literally just hit cruise and listen to sci-fi audiobooks — yes, I'm a nerd and I am proud of it!

My questions for you guys (please do not give me subjective opinions, thank you all in advance):
- Which of those two front coilovers have more travel (longer springs)? I'm not saying "lift" — I'm asking, which has longer springs?
- What are the lbs/in of each of those coilover springs? (and possibly the lbs/inch of the fox 2.5s for comparison)

Thanks!

Pic for attention.

I have the 6112's and the 5100's and I can say they are not the best on plush small bumps, you tend to notice everything imo

where they shine is the big bumps with little to no rebound

this YouTube video from Shock Surplus solidified my choice to get the 6112's instead of the Eibach's

I also have a 21 PowerBoost just an fyi

Just confirming you’re currently on the adjustable Fox 2.5’s with remote reservoir? You couldn’t find a setting that worked for you? I’d maybe also look into deaver rear springs.

No, I do not have the DSC. Just the resi. All that I could get on short notice back in fall 2021.

Had a LONG discuss ion with the Zack? at Hotshot Offroad. He initially was pushing me towards the 6112, but then after understanding my needs (and desires), ultimately switched lanes and is pushing me towards the Eibach Pros. Here's why we ended up here:
- Eibach has a longer shock (more opportunity for small bump compliance, as the coil isn't as bunched).
- Eibach is a 450lbs/in vs 500lbs of the 6112 (his understanding is my coils on my 2020 mng date are also 500lbs — they are since 450lbs after 2021)
Hope this helps anyone.

I would look into Kings if you got the budget and time. No digressive piston BS, fully rebuildable and revalvable with no special tools. Full size vehicles will always have compromised ride quality with 2.0 shocks, just not enough surface area on the piston.

Almost retired
I have the Fox Elite 2.5 Shocks with DSC on all four corners. The adjustability is key in my opinion, but I have to admit that for daily use I basically have the compression and rebound set to almost full soft. I am also running 37x12.5x20 tires that are load range "E" , so they are stiff themselves. I run my tires down around 34 psi (cold) to help, and notice that at normal "highway" driving temp they run about 38psi. I think the stiffness of the tires is a big contributor to the harshness over speed bumps at "normal parking lot speed". However, if I hit a speed bump at 25-30mph the shocks soak it up like a 1970's Cadillac. I also drove down some washboard the other day at like 35-45mph and the shocks performed like they are priced (high). So far I haven't had to have the shocks rebuilt (~3years old). Just throwing out that the combo of tire type, tire pressure, and adjustability of compression and rebound may be a bigger factor for your ride quality than brand.

go check out ANY off road race event and tell me how many rigs you see rocking eibach or bilstein these days ??
How many people are off-road racing an otherwise bone stock F150? Sure, King's are great if you intend on participating in King of the Hammers (which no F150 is capable of anyway) but 99% of people on here just want a baby lift so that they can fit a larger tire, and look cool heading to the grocery store and soccer practice. The budget lifts are fine for pretty much everyone. Buy a Raptor if you really want to jump the thing

@ captain I’m not talking jumping or racing I’m talking overall quality and why those teams choose who they do. but if you have ever personally had icon/fox/king/bilstein you would know there is a vast difference even in street conditions. I’ve had all of the above the past 40 years and kings is hands down superior.

You recommended rough country above so that tells me enough….

I recommended those because they are in the same price range as the Eibach and Bilstein's, are adjustable, and get pretty good reviews. Not because they are a direct competitor with a $10,000 King setup.

I have the Bilstein 6112/5160 right now. They suck on road for small bumps and cracks.
