Outdoor Temperature Reading

I’ve noticed this on mine too. I don’t believe it’s so much that it “off”, rather than it’s just really hot in the area where the truck was literally baking ? (out in the sun, getting beat on from UV days as well as the asphalt pushing heat back up onto it).

I read this article a little while back that explains why car thermometers ? seem a bit off:

Makes good sense, apparently cars these days don’t have actual “thermometers” by definition.

107 today and mine has been reading a few degrees higher over the last week or so. It seems the hotter it gets during this heat wave in the Pacific North West, the more off it gets.
Something else to think about. We have active grill shutters and air dam, the sensor is most likely where it has been for years, in your front grill. You see where I'm heading with this>?

I don't mind if it's off a bit on the extremes, the point I care about most is the 32F/0C "ish" range. With mountain passes, that temp range where you can get black ice - or even level ground for that matter - is where I find the temp most crucial. I get it's not scientific accuracy, but if I can trust it's pretty close, that sure helps.

The ambient air temp sensor is located on the bottom of the passenger side mirror.

Glad I’m not the only one. It seems the warmer it is out, the more off the temp gets. According to the weather channel, it was 78 degrees the other day. Driving down the road at 60mph, my truck was showing 87 degrees…

Furthermore, looks like it can only be recalibrated using FDRS (dealer visit unless you buy a 72 hour license and have a mongoose/VCII adapter).

Anymore information or fix for this? I am having the same issue. it is reading 8-15 degrees higher all the time…even when my sons 2017 f150 and my wife’s 2016 LR4 all sitting right next to each other.
