Happy Thanksgiving ?
I love my 21 (job 1) Platinum Powerboost, 29k miles bought in September. Still slowly learning this space ship of a truck. Thanks to everyone posting help and tips.
As far as I can tell there have been no OTA updates in a while or ever. The update screen is grayed out and not selectable.
How can I check my truck for current status and missed updates/downloads.

Thanks!!

VIN
Thanks!!
The truck is on Sync 23159 so it is not one of the job 1 trucks stuck on the broken software. There is an IPC update that has been twice to this truck recently and it failed both times. The same IPC update that is failing for you also failed for me and had to be pushed through with FDRS. It may go through if they send it again, or it may fail over and over again and may need to be manually installed.....there is no way to really tell. You do show a bunch of modules with pending updates.

Is Sync 23167 a newer or older version , sometimes numbers don’t mean much in FORD’s terms. Asking, since my 21 is on the 23167 version

The number 23167 means it came out on the 167th day of 2023. So about June 16th, give or take a day.

rugedraw, Thanks for the info, I'll keep reading and maybe find out what to try next.
VIN removed, I'd seen so many, didn't know not to.
Thanks

Only if you can get your dealer to do it

Retired and not looking. I am driving the wife crazy.
I had an interesting conversation with my dealer two days ago. I think half of all this F150 has to do with updates. So I went looking for the update part of the software on the screen, and it said I have no updates available. Yet I hear everyone say they can't get updates, they don't load right, they mess other things up, kill batteries, and contribute to global warming.

At least that is what I think I am reading.....On to the rest.

I had my 21 F150 Lariat in to the dealer for some other things and asked them to check for updates. Mind you this was just for my entertainment. My service lady, who knows nothing other than checking in cars for service and why she would be spending another night alone, was not quite sure what a front end alignment is, told me I had been updated in September and November of this year, and I still had 16 updates listed. I asked her when I was going to get them. She referred me back to the tech. I never actually talked to him.

She said we don't have a clue. They just arbitrarily shove them down when they are ready. So I asked her to download the 16 I do not have. She came back with the estimate of the other things I wanted done, and included was the update. She needed my approval to proceed. That was when it turned into an afternoon of entertainment.

The other stuff seemed high, but everything at a dealer is high anyway. They have done good work for me in the past, so I stick with them. Although I could do it I had no interest. The last item was the software update. They wanted $3,000 to install 16 updates, or I could just wait until Ford decided I needed them. Guess what I did on this one? I never found out what it was they did for $3,000 unless they were charging computer crunch time. So of course I authorized them.....to do nothing on that one. The service manager will get his opportunity.

I guess being an old man makes me a vulnerable target. At least not stupid yet.

Life is entertaining.

Honestly that estimate sounds about right. Getting all these updates installed can be long and tedious. It’s not something you can just start and walk away from.

There is a cheaper option to do it yourself that is outlined on the thread below. The cable needed is about $600 but you can borrow one for free. You need a windows 10/11 laptop. You can get a cheap one under $400 if you don’t have one. Then all you need is a $50 subscription to FDRS, a lot of time, and a lot of patience.

The only update you can’t install is the BCM mentioned above.

She said we don't have a clue. They just arbitrarily shove them down when they are ready.
She was correct. They don't know, and neither does anyone else. Module firmware updates aren't like your iPhone where you check for updates, click "Update" and 5 minutes later, it's done, nor are they pushed out to everybody at the same time.

They wanted $3,000 to install 16 updates, or I could just wait until Ford decided I needed them.
First, understand that that was an estimate. Could be more, could be less. But applying updates isn't like replacing 8 spark plugs. It's hard to estimate how long it will take, and there may be updates that appear AFTER you apply one that extends the time it will take to finish. Not sure what their posted hourly rate is, but if it's $150, then that's 20 hours. I would consider that worst case scenario.

I guess being an old man makes me a vulnerable target. At least not stupid yet.
They were being up front with you. Would you rather have them quote you 10 hours, but then hand you a bill for 20?

As was previously mentioned, you can purchase the Mongoose Plus VIC from Amazon for under $600. Then, whenever you want to apply outstanding updates, you spend $50 and get a couple of days to get things done yourself. You may also need an inexpensive but compatible flash drive.
