You can try holding down the power button and forward seek button until the screen reboots, but I doubt it will work. I think there is a 90 day period between the time your truck will resync with Ford's servers, so you may be stuck seeing that for a while.

I have a 2021 3.5 Ecoboost that I purchased in Sept 2021. I don't believe I have ever received an OTA update.

I had it in June of last year and I thought one of the recalls was going to fix it, it didn't, life happened, and it was Nov. before I brought it back, and they talked to Ford HQ, spent time on it, and got it to run updates (I was told), although none of the features I've heard like (full screen carplay, turn by turn on the dash, rear camera) have ever showed up.

More so, if i go in and scheduled it to check for updates at a certain time/date, it doesn't remember the schedule. I've told them this month, but I swear the server manager's eyes glaze over as soon as I say OTA update.

I dropped it off this morning, and he just called me to ask what was it that it wasn't doing? I don't know what to tell him, other than the OTA schedule isn't remembering the schedule and it still doesn't look like I'm getting any updates.

Anyone have any suggestions on what to tell them? It would be nice if there was a simple "what version you are on" screen, but that might make too much sense?
Have u tried auto update

Hi rugedraw,
Would you be able to check what may happening with my 21 as well? When I check for updates, it shows that no updates are available. But the system is clearly way out of date. I posted in another thread where I was sent a screenshot showing a number of updates just waiting, but it would be good to know if the module in my truck is locked up like a lot of others here.

VIN: 1FTEW1EP3MKD51382

Thanks!

No, your truck is fine. The problem is Ford's garbage OTA process.

After being in the OTA limbo situation myself, there is one other option you can do besides convincing your dealer to do it. You can call Fords technology department and have them escalate your case for resolution. It's a known issue at Ford. They have been instructed to escalate a case in the event of stick OTAs. They explained that to me and escalated mine. I will post the phone number below. If they can't resolve the issue remotely, then I believe they will direct you to your dealer and support the dealer doing the update. They also just told me that my truck is up to date and closed my case. And they told me more updates were coming around the end of March.

So I probably need to go to the dealer to get my APIM updated or replaced?
Only ever got one (1) single update and it had to do with the towing module. No other updates since buying my 2021 Plat 18 month ago. Dealer replaced the APIM for black screen issues etc., but that hasn't done anything for my OTA updates. It simply don't work. Dealers will not update anything unless it's causing a problem, so dont think you can get all modules updated just because updates are available.

Yes, when I first got the truck the autoupdate option (on the screen) was selectable. Since they first started trying to fix the OTA, it is no longer selectable.

Your truck does not have a single OTA recorded in its history since the day it was built and you are on Sync 20301. You need to have your dealer manually update/repair your APIM or diagnose it as faulty and replace it or chances are, your truck will never get an OTA. Not sure if you are new to this issue, but it unfortunately a very common problem with the first batch of 2021 trucks that were built.

Right i was just answering snyce1's comment, supposedly they've ordered a new APIM chip. It is on my list to follow up /w them next week.

So they replace my APIM and said it is programed to my vehicle. Is there anyway you can tell if that fixed the issue. Right now, I'm showing no updates, but it does remember the schedule, but not convinced it is fixed.

I’m in the same limbo as you. My dealer finally installed a new APIM in my truck on Monday. Prior to this APIM, my OTA schedule wouldn’t save or allow me to toggle the auto updates on/off. Now it does but I’m thinking it’s still not up to date as a few features others are reporting they have I don’t.

This sounds like what has happened to mine, new APIM installed schedule now saves, but no updates available.

Sync itself, checking for updates, is incredibly misleading.

I say that because it implies that it checked for updates, when you prompted it to, and that none are available if it says that it is uptodate.

Hogwash. There could be 3 updates available for your APIM and that method wouldn't prompt or notify you of such.

Only an FDRS scan with your VIN can get a definitive response for the next available APIM update, or other module updates that are a prerequisite update for receiving the next APIM update.

Once I setup the schedule I've gotten an update every week like clockwork. Seems like the folks that were stuck in the 1.7s are also starting to get updates rolled out to them
