Hi everyone thoughts any about this?! Every time I do it oil change I cut my oil filter apart . I don't know why but I just do to check what's inside. This time the oil filter metal top plate fell off where the adhesive attaches the Pleated filter!!! And bottom was coming off also . The oil was Mobile one fully synthetic with a ford oil filter with 7000 miles
When I drain the oil pan there was no particles of the dry up adhesive . There's no weird sounds coming from the engine or any Un normal Noises coming from the engine.... What would you do if anything?

Seems to be normal because the times i used fl500 filters they did this. is it a problem that could cause issues i am not sure. i dont like glue failing so the last couple of oil changes i used royal purple filters and they are a decent filter. if you eant the best filter according to a lot of tests and reviews the purolator boss is the best filter out there. maybe i will buy another fl500s and cut a brand new one open to see if the glue is failing before it is even installed.

There are some rubbers, polymers, or glues that aren't compatible with synthetic oils. I bought a sandwich plate by Setrab to get a take off port for a bypass filter feed. The o-ring they provided (I went thru several) always began leaking after a few hundred miles. Took me a while to realize I wasn't pinching the o-ring on installing it and it was simply incompatible with synthetic oil.

Oil compatability is not the issue. I’m changing filter brands. Thanks for the info

That I don't know for 5.0. I'm sure you can look it up online.

My favorite is K&N for the simple reason that they have a 1" hex stamped into the housing, so that you can ALWAYS get it off.

If only Purolator would use the glue from the "Boss" filer on the Motorcraft filter! The Motorcraft glue issues have been documented enough that I'm looking for another option... I have seen some 'internet wisdom' saying that the Boss filter doesn't filter out the smaller micron particles as well as Ford would like. (I don't know how true that is however...)

That's what big screwdrivers are for! Drive it through the filter with a tap of a hammer, grab both ends, and twist.

As for me, I use mobile 1 for both filter and oil. They had better not be incompatible with one another!
