Anyone noticing an issue with no audio playing from time to time when using CarPlay? I have a 2022 with the latest version ( I believe ) of Sync 4. Perhaps 20% of the time when I start the truck I get not audio when playing music with anything including Spotify, Apple Music, iHeart and so on. To fix I either restart my phone or do a reset of the trucks screen.

Yes. Mine does that occasionally. The music time counts, but no audio. Also the phone as no audio if a call comes in..

If you're on revision 1049 or later and having these issues, Ford is aware and have said a fix should be out in 1st quarter 2025. In the meantime you can do 2 things, and you may need to do both, when problems occur:
1. Reboot the Sync system: hold down the power knob and track forward until the screen goes black
2. Terminate whatever music app is in use on the phone and restart it in CarPlay.

I have this happen occasionally on my 24. I found easiest/quickest way to fix it is to go into Bluetooth settings on my phone and switch CarPlay off then on again. Once it reconnects the audio works.

I have this issue from time to time on my '24 also. I just turn off Wi-Fi so CarPlay disconnects, then turn Wi-Fi back on, and voila! Sound works again.

Sound comes via BT so it's the likely culprit.

When this happens on my ‘23, I tap the “Phone List” icon at the top of my screen, tap the “CarPlay” button to disconnect from my phone and then after a couple seconds, tap the CarPlay button again to reconnect.

Sound comes via BT so it's the likely culprit.
As far as I know Wireless CarPlay only uses BT for the initial connection. After that is established, it switches over to WiFi direct for the audio and video signals.

Glad to hear it's not just me but sad to hear so many others are having the issue! I really wish Ford could let us know when updates were coming via the app. When I call Ford the folks there have no idea. I did hear an update was coming from my dealership but they had no details as to what it was going to do/fix. Another issue I hope they can fix (but it's probably an apple thing ) is that if I have any media app open on the screen like Spotify, Apple Music or iHeart for example if I shut the truck off and turn it back on the media app is not longer displayed on the screen. The music starts playing again but if you want to use the app again you have to select it from the "Home Screen" ( with all the icons). I believe this changed with iOS 18 update. In a perfect world the screen should start back up where you left it. Seems simple enough. Common sense really.

yes, it happens on my 22 f150 and my 23 raptor. it's incredibly annoying. as others have said, only way to get it working quickly is the reset method. the wifi reset method works sometimes but the surefire way is a full reset of the head unit.

for anybody having this issue, I would head over to the Vin look up thread and have them check if you have the newest APIM available. I have not had this issue once since updating and I’ve driven a lot.

for me, I had to get two separate FDRS licenses. One to install all the prerequisite updates and then a second a few weeks later when they released the APIM for me.

I had other reasons to get the license both times so it was a no brainer but the APIM update alone was worth the $100 for me and it might only be one license for $50 for others depending on where you are at.

Contrary to this, I have the latest APIM update and there are still times where I have no audio playing.

That said, the latest update also made it easier to reconnect my phone through sync to get it working quickly again.

For reference: my Sync is at 24217 revision 1270 and I’m using an iPhone.

Out of curiosity do you use CarPlay wired or wireless? I only use it hardwired due to the increased sound quality using higher quality audio sources. I say no to wireless when setting up CarPlay and have wireless app projection disabled.

Also when using wired CarPlay be sure you are using a high quality certified usb cable from a reputable company. There are a lot of cables out there that are junk. I always use the cable that comes with my phone in my truck and replace it with the same or similar when needed.

I use wireless CarPlay because it’s just more convenient for me.
