Only if their tester claims it is bad, which in my experience doesn't happen and wastes a lot of my time. I do have a service apt scheduled...just very pessimistic about it.
Having exact same issue. Will an H8 fit? The tray seems big enough.

You should be able to fit an H8- unless you have a Powerboost- then go with the H7.

No need for a battery blanket.

To avoid any problems plugging a battery maintainer is a good $50 investsment. When I plan to have my truck sit for days it is what I do and no longer any problems with the truck.

This is by the way a Ford specific issue and I could not find similar posts on GM/Chevy or Toyota or Ram forums.

2 weeks since removing the OEM H6 and installing a new H7 and only driven 450 km. Seems to be worth the investment. Have not had any approach or interior lights NOT come on. Every thing seems good.

FYI: I saw/read someplace the battery blanket is not to keep the battery warm but to insolate it from the engine heat. Heating the battery up shortens its life. AT least this is how I understood it.

Well... If you drive many short trips, the blanket will serve that purpose. On the other hand if you live somewhere like I do (western Wyoming) you rarely have short trips. If you go 4 to 5 hours per trip then the battery will come up to engine compartment temperature after an hour or so...

Inexpensive. (BM2)
Effortlessly get a reading.
And yeah, I couldn't do without it now.

I'm laying in bed about to go lights out. I launch the app:

I wanted to let you know that I picked up one of these for my 83 year old father-in-law's old Ford Ranger. We recently went through a lot trouble-shooting with intermittent issues where ultimately the root cause was an old battery not keeping it's charge. Battery replaced and issues solved.

We did the simple install on Thanksgiving and he was thrilled with the ability to monitor the voltage and cranking voltage.

So thanks to you and everyone else who recommended it. It's given my father-in-law piece in mind.

Just did 4 days of camping with the H8 on my 5.0l.

No sleep mode messages, no issues with the LEDs coming on many times opening doors.

My H7 gave me a lot of trouble.

I installed a Deka 9A94R (H7) AGM battery in my truck on 1/8/2023, and I installed the correct battery cover (KL3Z-10A687-B) for that battery. I also updated the battery capacity info at 726-04-01 and I used forscan to change my target SOC from 80% to 90%. I've only driven my truck about 6400 miles since then, but I haven't had any issues since installing the H7 battery and I don't use a trickle charger either.

726-04-01:
H6 battery: XXXX-1C1C-XXXX
H7 battery: XXXX-1E1E-XXXX
H8 battery: XXXX-2020-XXXX

These forscan changes have not been confirmed to be 100% accurate. @Big Dog Daddy provided me with some new information that conflicts with the information I had previously found.
Good afternoon, Working on upgrading to H7 battery and wondering if you have the good numbers for Forscan for the upgrade? TIA

To be honest I never found a clear answer and years later I haven't had any issues so I just haven't worried about making any forscan changes for the H7 battery capacity. My truck has been mostly sitting the past few months and I never had any issues starting it or any indication of a low battery.
