Buy Old or New Truck?

Now most trucks have knee and side air bags.
Beyond the airbags, new automobiles, including trucks have highly advanced crumple zones that absorb energy in a crash so that the human occupants don't have as much trauma. This is important in preventing severe neck and back injuries in a crash.
I think this is what differentiates new trucks more than anything else from older classic trucks..

I agree with this, another aspect that differentiates new trucks is horsepower. Had a 1978 3/4 van with 5.7 liters, think it made around 180 horses, my 2024 5.0 makes, as we all know, 400 hp and makes better MPG.
And safer, to boot.

My major reason for getting a 2024 RCSB (besides the 5.0) was the safety features.. Last new vehicle I bought was my 2015 Honda. After I got over the 'Sticker Shock' of at least 40K for the cheapest new XL F-150 I just looked around to see what that kind of cash would buy in a classic truck right now seriously. I've followed the market for years kinda as a hobby but was still surprised how the demand has/is peaking in the last 2 or 3 years. Here in Florida 4×4 with mild lifts are especially popular. They are just selling as soon as listed if priced reasonably. And if they have factory air big blocks and are highly optioned are now considered very collectable. Not so much anything in the 2000's and above but in the 70's and 80's for sure. One I had and sold I wish I had kept was a 1979 Super Cab 4×4 with a factory Dana 60 front axle air side tool box and I believe was a 351?? It had every option and was black..The guy who bought it (after the money changed hands) told me the front Dana 60 was extremely rare and worth 2 grand by itself.
Rust is what buyers down here look for the most.
