2025 Ford F150 Tremor
Purchased new 2025 F150 Tremor April 29th. While installing weather tech mudflaps and Rear Wheel Well liners noticed the rust on the rear axle. I called dealership back and they said this was normal and they checked other new trucks on lot and found same thing. I told them this is not normal. I contacted Ford and they said to keep it at dealer level if they did not help to call back. The Assistant to the Owner of Dealership contacted me and said Ford does not have any Factory bulletins regarding the rear axle rust. She said the Dealership would take care of the remove rust and paint. they did a great job no cost to me. The Dealership did take care of this but keep saying this is normal.

The 2017 Platinum I traded in did not have any rust on the axle

Hella good dealership to do that. Yours may have been a little more than most but in a few days around here sand and gravel on the roads will have the leading edges pretty well chipped up and add rain or winter salt and it’s back to rust. Guaranteed never to rust through

Had the same issue with my 25 also… In the end, I decided it was easier just to deal with it myself then to fight with the dealership, make multiple trips up there leaving the truck, etc.… Half a day with some rust remover and paint and the issue has gone away

Mine has 47 miles on it and it’s got rear diff rust. I’ll probably hit it with some rust encapsulator and satin rust oleum performance paint, then give it fluid film treatment:

The Dealership took care of mine only after I got in touch with the Owner of Dealerships assistant, The dealership sales people kept saying it was normal and was on all of their new trucks and I called Ford factory and they said I had to keep it at Dealership level if they did not help he could escalate to Ford area manager. I have to say they did a good job but still say its normal. I hope others complain and it gets back to Ford factory not normal by any means nice truck but unacceptable from Ford factory

This is not a "new" issue, I bought a 03 F250 and the forums had a lot of reports of this back then. At the time the expiation was parts setting on palates in the lot rusting. I hit my 03 with POR15 and some rattle can paint and all was good. Not excusing this on a truck this expensive but it has been an issue for 27 years to my knowledge.

Oh yes, the old rusty axle topic. There’s plenty of old threads covering this from when the 2021s were coming out. Fortunately, my 2025 that I took delivery of two weeks ago was nice and black with no rust.

I hop underneath mine with a can of Rustoleum every oil change or tire rotation.
It’s not just Ford. It’s everybody.

It’s also a given if you live in Michigan or other states that salt the roads in the winter. Pretty much a losing battle. Ask me how I know.
