Just picked up a 5L XLT 302A, 4WD, 3.73, Crewcab.
I was peeking around the engine bay and noticed there was a harness (the two large connectors in the foreground of the image) that wasnt secured very well, as well as some exposed terminals to the fuse box. Should there be a cover for those terminals? And is anyone familiar with where that harness should be secured to? Right now I just secured it with zip ties to some nearby harnesses to prevent it from being able to move around a bit.

Thanks! I am loving this truck (and engine) and glad to be back in a Ford (used to have a 2001 F250 7.3L 4x4). I am coming from a 2018 Tacoma TRD Offroad.

Retired and not looking. I am driving the wife crazy.
Looks like a photo of my 2024 Studebaker. I would say looking at my 21 5.0 F150 that there should be a cover for those connections, and no clue what that plug is for.

This will be interesting to follow.

I also have the 2024 XLT 5.0 / 3.73 with 302a crew 4x4.
I checked under the hood and I am seeing a plastic cover that retains that harness. So I believe you are missing a part.

Alright! Thanks guys. Is the part number visible? I might just buy it myself than try to get the dealer to get it for me.

Yeah the black bracket (barely seen) in your hand in your photo snaps into the larger L shaped cover that is missing. If I were you I would definitely be asking the dealer about it , not just for a replacement but also why it was missing.

I looked on mine further but can't see a part number. It's probably on the inside.

It is a hazard. The truck is new. It should be there from the factory.

Did you have any options that the dealer was responsible for installation. Or did you upgrade to power running boards that the dealer installed, for instance? Your cover is likely laying on someone's bench.

I would have the dealer pay for it. Shouldn’t come out of your pocket.

With the Duramax diesel I owned there were problems with NOx sensors that were the result of the factory putting the wiring harness directly on the SCR that gets extremely hot. The diesel tech was smart enough to fix this when he replaced one of the sensors.

My 2022 F-150 had the rear brakes safety recall that entailed using zip ties to move the wiring out of harm's way. So the factory people do screw up sometimes with the actual 3 dimensional layout of components.
