I'm confused about the people talking about the "flimsy" console shifter. The console shifter on my 2024 is definitely not "flimsy". Am I missing something?

It's in the perfect spot to rest my hand and I'd never go back to a column shifter. Are you all pining for a 3 in the tree transmission as well?
It does definitely feel cheap and has a lot of slop. I can rock mine forward and back when it's in any position and just makes it feel flimsy. This is also the updated GSM that feels better than the original one that had to be replaced after throwing a wrench light. Most cars have electronic shifted transmissions these days and I can't think of any I've driven that had shifters as bad as this one.

I'm definitely used to a column shifter as my trucks have always had one for the last 15+ years and I still sometimes find myself reaching up to grab the empty space where it would be when I'm in a hurry, lol. I'm also tall and my long arms make the console shifter a little awkward to use as it's set a bit too far back for me and I have to pull my arm back or curl my wrist down pretty far to manipulate the controls.

I'm curious to see how difficult/expensive this mod is but I'm on the fence if it's worth it to me yet.

Maybe we can get an overhead shifter instead, mounted within the overhead console. I think it would make even more sense. Plus, it would feel like you're really applying some powA!

For reference, look up seaplanes or something as simple as a DHC-6 Twin Otter.

Yeah I just bought the STX since I didn't need all the extras. It has a console none of the extra super high tech BS, and a column shifter. also has the fold out work space which I keep my time sheets tucked in for work inside when folded. I don't care abut 360 cameras, electric leather seats, or 4x4, etc. Just a plain everyday truck to haul stuff or daily back and forth to work. Does have a rear electronic locker though, which does work well. I get that 1 wheel spin backing in some spots on my property, then hit the locker and it moves right where I want it to. I must say I love my Ford Tough Ford truck!!!
