Does anyone know the rated maximum engine oil pressure? I had installed a 0-100 psi electric gauge and the sensor failed with a small oil leak. I infer that the max pressure is greater than 100#. Anyone know?

I’ve watched it on Obd fusion. Never seen it higher than 70

Well, my 0-100 psi gauge has failed and is leaking oil out the wire point. I was observing 98 psi. My inference is that something greater than 100 psi occurs routinely. Anyone else? Anyone got a look at the shop manual spec?

I believe its a two stage pump with 95# being the default and when told to, the pump reduces the pressure to 40#

yep, saw that. Actually observed 48# low & 98# high setting. Still, the sensor failed and was leaking oil. So curious as to potential higher numbers. Oddly the numbers start out a bit lower cold and go up a bit when hot. (like 45# & 95# cold).

I’ve only ever seen up to 93psi through OBD reader. Even if the gauge is rated 100 and the pressure was slightly higher I doubt that would cause a leak. Likely just a bad gauge off the shelf

Keep in mind the PID y’all are pulling on the OBD for oil pressure is PSIA, not PSIG. I say that because mine would show 14.6 or 14.7 when the engine is not running. I created a user defined one where 14.7 is subtracted. I typically see 45 psig for the “high pressure“ and 25 psig when the pump is low pressure. Seems low but I figure Ford is minimizing HP loss to maximize fuel economy. Hopefully not at the expense of longevity.

Subtract the barometric pressure PID for more nerd points. ?
Covered that in the oil pressure PID thread. :)

Comparing against a physical gauge as they are using you want the full pressure reading though.
