I see this as well on my 21 since the flurry of updates that got me current. Its an annoying audio glitch. I notice it most when the cameras come on the screen, either due to me hitting the button to get cameras in motion or putting it in reverse and there will be a temporary freeze with an awful audio noise either from a fraction of a second to a couple of seconds.

Even just listening to apple music i would get a brief audio glitch every minute or so. I generally use Wireless carplay so I don't know if that's a factor. I've been meaning to try wired to see if it helps but I haven't yet.

I've also had carplay freeze and crash a few times, which never happened before. It'll hang for about 20-30 seconds, then crash, but it will automatically restart and reconnect.

I have a 2022 XLT with the 302A package, and the update seems to be getting worse.

1. Occasionally when I turn off the truck it does a hard shut down and I lose all my dash settings
2. I keep getting trailer brake fault warnings (when not towing)
3. When I start it, it asks what trailer is connected… no trailer is connected
4. When I put it in reverse, it beeps and ends phone calls
5. Backup camera keeps freezing
6. Power steering has turned off a few times while parking.
7. CarPlay takes a long time to connect…
8. Most recently the driver window "auto-up" stopped working and I have to hold the button to close it.

Dropped it off at the dealership this morning because I need the trailer brake fault to go away before we move horses. Probably a short from old connectors, but I cleaned it, and kept happening.

Since the last update on my 2022 F150 XLT PB, 4.2.4 that I received at the beginning of May, several small glitches concerning the use of Android Auto. Cracky sound, difficult wireless connection. This last weekend, I went camping with my trailer and when using Android Auto, during the trip, the screen froze and the system restarted 2 times. This done, I had to tell the system which trailer I had attached, reset the towing parameters and so on. When I arrived at my destination, when I switched to reverse mode, the camera screen froze and the system rebooted. Not very practical. At first glance, I don't seem to be the only one to have encountered this kind of problem.

Same thing here. 2023 XLT and every time the cameras come on whether it be in Reverse or by pushing the button Radio starts buzzing disconnects Bluetooth freezes the screen. Also consistently drops Bluetooth connection to my phone. And random freeze ups and restarts of the screen. Does anybody know if they're working on a new update or fix for this? Is there a way to revert back and uninstall the latest update? This is very annoying.

UPDATE:-----Now I am getting messages that Front camera error, not available and front crash protection disabled. WTF???

I hope Ford makes this a priority,:mad::mad::mad::mad:

Just ten min ago I recieved 4.2.4 notification. I approved.
Just a moment later my check engine light came on and I got email from ford pass that my truck is sick and dying.
Ford pass is useless.
With all this tech why in the God dammed hell won't my truck say what the God dammed problem is?
Now I have to drive it 45 miles home to scan it. At least say the code. 85 thousand dollars and it can't speak.

For future reference, a $20 bluetooth OBDII adapter and an app on your phone will allow you to scan your truck and any compatible vehicle. I keep one in my truck always with the Torque app.

Buy why should I need a adapter to display what clearly should be displayed. I get email from my truck. I get notifications in my dash. I get a check engine light.
I'm 40 Miles from home. Is it safe to drive? Am I going to cause additional damage?
All it says is to drive it to my nearest shop to pull the code. Just give me the fucking code!

My Ford dealership has ordered a new module to see if that fixes it. This will be my 3rd module in this truck after my first one failed 2 days before a 6,000-mile road trip. (Pretty thankful for that BL Bluetooth speaker)

I'll report back hopefully later this week. But, I'm curious if anyone else has had their module replaced and if seemed to fix the issues with the new update?

So I too am in post update Sync/radio/android auto backup cam limbo. I took my 80,000 my22 platinum into the dealer who after looking at it for a day told me there was nothing wrong. So I made a special trip to convince them to let me take the technician for a 5 minute drive. Within 2 minutes I had demonstrated the radio/android auto/ and usb drive audio crackling and cutting out. The Phone dropping calls was also demonstrated. I couldn't get the backup camera to glitch on reverse. The sound system did glitch a couple times when I had the parking sensors go off.

Static and phone drops aren't much of a concern for my dealer. They kept it another night. Told me they couldn't find anything and that they would talk to Ford and see it they had any information. They said I might as well use my truck and they would call me back when Ford got back to them. So I picked up my truck.

A week latter I get a text from my service manager saying that they hope my service went well and that I could give 5 stars for their service. So I contacted them and he seemed surprised that I was waiting for info. Another week latter and still no word. They don't seem to have really done anything except said that they can't do anything. The tech had said maybe an update will fix things. Also when I came to pick up the truck they said they had checked for Ford posting a known issue bulletin (not the exact term but it has been over a week since he said that.) and they hadn't seen anything of the kind.
I am in Detroit. If anyone from Ford wants to look at a truck and actually find out what is going on let me know. Always happy to help improve the product and hopefully find someone who cares to fix a very expensive vehicle still under a year old and under a warranty that no one seems to be able to fulfil.

November 2021 XLT, noticed that the computer now constantly freezes up briefly when doing things like setting nav, using settings, etc, causing the audio to make this horrendeous glitchy/grinding noise. It also sometimes completely freezes up when going into reverse and I get no camera.
Any word on your problem? updates? I have all you described plus the dropped phone calls described elsewhere. Seems that the collision assist and proximity sensors also set off the clitch noise.

Hey guys, I have said time and time again, unless your truck has an issue and NEEDS the OTA patch to resolve the issue, dont turn on OTA. And in all honesty, if you are waiting for a patch to fix a previous problem, you should take it in and have them manually patch it.
Software, and it doesnt matter, who.... Microsoft, Apple, Android, iOS or Ford... the chances of getting a patch and introducing a new problem to a perfectly good, solid system CAN happen. My OTA is turned off and I refuse to get any new patches cuz as of this moment (knocking on wood of my desk) my truck runs prefectly.
Last patch I got was by accident, I was showing my friend how to turn on and turn off OTA and as soon as I enabled it in my truck I got an update.
I know this is too late for those of you who have received patches and are having troubles but for future ref, it would be wise to disable OTA.

yep same here, the last update did something, now i cannot connect to android auto just using blue tooth, it has to have my phones WiFi turned on in order to connect... it's NEVER needed that before.
i HATE WIFI on my phone, i NEVER use it, and it drains the battery fast.
Blue Tooth should be all the truck needs to connect, idk what got changed.

My truck is doing the same thing. Glitches out when connected to carplay, no sound thru speaker during a phone call sometimes. It freeze up and makes buzzing noise sometimes when putting it in reverse all started after the update I got on may 1st. Has anyone been to ford to get this fixed or figured out a way to fix this?

No issues with the truck even though it is completely updated. (4.2.4)

I have 2 phones that are always connected when the truck starts. Bluetooth only. Not USB cabled.

I must use reverse for ~100 yards before I can move forward. No reverse camera problem or audio glitches.

However, I do not use Android Auto/Carplay. Is perhaps this yet another issue with that endlessly moving target?

Hi Larry! I can look into your F-150's audio concern on my end. To get started, could you please send a private message over with the name/location of your local Ford dealer and your F-150’s VIN?
