Low FOB Battery?

Does anyone know if the truck will give a warning for a low FOB battery?

Mine started acting up while on vacation. Would unlock the door but then not start the truck. Act up for the rest of the day then work great the next day. Then on the way home acted up again. But no warnings or anything. I ordered a new battery that i'' have tomorrow, but was curious. My wife's Honda and parents Volvo both give low battery warnings.

FYI, Current battery is 2.5 years old.

Yeah, Maybe a bad FOB then. New battery came today.

3.043 Old Batt
3.032 Backup Fob
3.272 New Batt

Guess I'll run my backup FOB for a few days and see what happens.

My FOB seems to eat batteries. It lives in my pocket and doesn't have extra button pushes when away from the truck (I have never returned to unlocked doors, a dropped tailgate, or an alarm blaring).

It's annoying how often I am swapping FOB batteries for this truck. Others I've spoken to who own a Gen 13 F150, 2023 Edge, Bronco, and even my partner's FOB for my truck don't seem to have the same discharge rate on batteries.

But it exhibits the behaviors OP described when it starts to get low.

Also, when I park under a specific sign at a local restaurant, I have to drop the key into the hidden hole to start the truck. It must be some radio bleed from their sign.

I think most modern cars eat fob batteries quickly. My Jag did that. It probably has to do with constant communication with the vehicle. And with these trucks, the fact that the truck "wakes up" whenever the fob gets close tells me there is significant 2-way communication between them, and that doesn't come cheap energy-wise.

I never did figure anything out. Maybe the battery wasn't making a good connection? Never got any low battery warnings and the batteries in my other 2 FOBs are even lower and work fine. The fob in question has worked great so far since I took it apart and put it back together. Maybe I'll put a dab of dielectric grease on the battery connecting points? Odd.

That's odd. I just replaced the battery in mine for the first time after 2.5 yrs of ownership and countless button presses. I only did that because it randomly would stop locking/unlocking with the fob even when standing next to it. I also keep it and the second fob in faraday pouches at night. Not sure if that has any impact on battery usage since these fobs do seem to communicate with the truck.
