I later installed a digital voltmeter in my dash. In warm weather the Ford programmed rest voltage is 12.8 to 12.9 VDC. In colder weather it goes up to 14.9-15.1 VDC. This does not change with a fully warm engine compartment. Apparently the temperature sensor for the compensating circuitry is located in the pax mirror, so it never sees a fully warmed-up engine.
