not to be negative or anything, but don’t forget you’re paying the new MSRP the moment you abandoned your first truck order.
I hear you. I did compare my two order sheets and I guess luckily for me, the MSRP from 5 months ago to today was exactly the same. The only difference I could find was an extra $100 added in the destination and delivery charge (from $1795 to $1895). But, like I said - the difference between paying MSRP and 3% under invoice, it was a savings of almost $10k. From that standpoint, at a minimum, it made sense financially to cancel and resubmit with Granger.

Congrats Rich. I think you made the right decision. I ordered a truck from my local dealer. They didn't have the tow mirrors on the order. I did get the X-plan price. Then I found out about Granger from this forum. You save a lot of money. Even traveling from Florida is worth it. I canceled my order from my local dealer. They did give me a refund. My truck ordered from Granger is built. Just waiting on delivery.

Granger was the 3rd dealer I ordered from last year. Deals were MSRP, $2000 off MSRP, and almost $10K off MSRP. In addition to the savings, they're just plain awesome to work with. NO BS. WELL WORTH IT.

I'll be flying to Des Moines next week and I am looking forward to the trip. I'm even looking forward to the long drive back as I haven't traveled anywhere in the last couple of years.

I'm currently working on playlists in Spotify.

Nice! I had a great experience with granger in February. I love the base regular cab build. It’s a unicorn with the 3.3L. I hear its such an underrated reliable engine. Post some pictures when you get it!

I ended up ordering via Granger when my local dealer refused to offer price protection. And I feel Granger will be better than X-Plan as some Ford offers can't be used with X-Plan.

The only thing that gives me any kind of pause of doing the title paperwork here in Florida.

I ordered from Chapman in Horsham PA (Philly) and drove back to NE FL. No issues with title/registration. Plenty of people here from FL have ordered from Granger and Chapman and driven back. I've yet to hear anyone post of issues. Good luck in your travels. :)

So, I ordered a MY23 Lariat at my local dealer back on Oct 19. Since I fully expected to wait 6 months or more I didn’t really do a lot of research for where to order or options that might gum up my wait time (shame on me). Only after placing my order did I find this wonderful forum that was a wealth of knowledge, I clearly never had heard of Granger Ford before. After 5 months of waiting with zero contact from my dealer and being ghosted for multiple weeks after reaching out via email, phone and text - as much as it pained me, I decided to go ahead and cancel my order last week. I just couldn’t take another 45 day “we have your order, but no status yet” email. After reading through the posts on this forum and getting a better understanding of how Ford fulfills orders - partially based on dealership allocation, I decided to get a refund for my deposit and place an order for the exact same truck with Granger Ford. While I was hoping and expecting the move would in fact get me my truck earlier, I was still torn after having already waited 5 months from initially placing my order at my local dealer. The emotional pain of being put at the back of the order line quickly subsided when I received my build quote from Granger for 3% under invoice (I was planning on paying MSRP). Between that and the much lower dealership fees, I was saving nearly $10k from my initial expected truck cost! I could wait another 6-9 months for $10k - with the cost savings alone, I knew that I had made the right decision switching my order to Granger. Fast forward 1 week (to the day) later and I get an email today with a VIN and a scheduled production week of 4/24 - I couldn’t believe it!

I know that there is still a long way to go, but I am stoked to actually see light at the end of the tunnel for when I may get my retirement truck! With all that said, I’d just like to thank this group for all the amazing information that gets posted here - if not for this forum, I am sure that I would still be in F-150 order purgatory.

For those interested, my order highlights below:

Powerboost Lariat w 6.5’ bed

Not all local dealers are bad.
But the Granger discount is hard to beat.
I ordered from a rural east Texas dealer when orders opened in late July 2023.
Watching threads in this forum, I got my VIN in the second week the new builds were issued. Build was completed 11/3 which was on time. The only significant delay was shipping which was a problem in Nov/Dec.
Picked the truck up the week after Christmas.
July MSRP was honored without question.
I am pleased with a nearby dealer. I did shop 4 local dealers and picked the smallest.
Traveling to Iowa was a non-starter.

Hey Rich,

Similar story for me. I sent emails to two local dealers and neither of them even responded. After a week of waiting, I came across Granger Ford while watching a YouTube video titled "How I saved $8000 on my 2021 Ford F-150 and You Can Too". I had never heard of Granger before seeing the video (see below).

I sent Chip at Granger an email specifying in detail the exact truck I wanted to order along with some of the options I wanted but I heard weren't available due to the chip shortage.

Chip called me back within 30 minutes of hitting the send button. Amazing! (that was three months ago, I still haven't heard anything from my two local dealers!) We talked for about 10 minutes and then he followed up with an email quote 15 minutes after that on the exact Platinum F-150 PB I specified. In short I had a firm price quote within one hour of sending my first email to Granger! I thought about it overnight and called Chip back the next morning and placed my deposit via credit card. My order was entered that day and confirmed with an email from Ford the same day. I will save about $9K after I factor in the travel expenses to and from Iowa.

It's been a great experience so far. Along the way I've inquired a couple of times via email and every time, I get a prompt reply from Chip and others at the dealership. (I'm trying hard not to take advantage and be a pain in the ass, ...but it's only been 3 emails in 3 months  ) Based on my experience so far and from everything I'm reading here on the Gen14 forum, I'm sure I will be delighted with Granger in the end. When all is done, anyone I talk to about buying my truck will hear about Granger.

Like @Uncorked I am looking forward to my 1200 mile trip back home to LI and I'm preparing a playlist ? on a USB thumb-drive.

@Rich_D Congratulations on retirement (this will be my second retirement vehicle) and best of luck with your new F-150!

Chip @ Granger Ford ROCKS ~ You won't regret getting your truck in Iowa, no matter where you're from (our return was 1,800+ miles in July 2021). Title and Registration is EZ-PZ in most places (taxes, not so much ~ ugh!).

And finally, get your music into *.flac format on a USB-C drive: Unleashed is amazing....

Add me to the list as a Granger fan boi. Picked up my Tremor from Chip early March. Had an 1800mi return trip to WA state. Saved $7k anyway. Transaction was way easy.

I had thouoght about going Granger, but ultimately decided to go with my local dealer, intending to "do the right thing" and keep the money in my community. It took 9 months to get a VIN (I had actually given up hope) and the truck was on chip hold for four months. Even before I got my VIN, Ford had already cut the Max Recline option, as well as losing the massage function in my seats. Ultimately my wait was 15-1/2 months, and I got most of the truck I ordered. Luckily, my dealer honored the original price, so I was happy about that.

However, if I had gone with Granger, I can't help but think that I might've gotten a VIN faster, and been able to keep the exact options I ordered. Of course, the seats recline a good ways anyway, so that might not be that big a deal. And since I never had the massage seats, I literally do not know what I'm missing so I'm not too broken up about that. And I would have saved money with Granger's lower price, but then again, I would've had to fly up to Iowa, and drive back here to TX. I think it was about 1800 miles. A two day trip, no biggie.

But when it comes down to it.... I'm happy with what I got.

If I had it to do over again... I'd SERIOUSLY consider Granger.

Don't forget that his dealer was selling at MSRP and Grainger is 3% below Dealer Invoice, so many thousands less even if the truck went through a price increase. I bought mine at dealer invoice through my local dealer and it was $6000 below MSRP and Grainger is another 3% lower.
