Did they not want to zero the tune in if you sent them logs?

were you looking for them to do put your truck on their dyno? I would guess they can bump up the low octane map and lean out the buffer in fueling. I was thinking to do the same but it being a truck I thought some margin for error would be ok, so I never messed with logging it
No, I was looking for them to leverage the logic of the computer itself that automatically will tune up or down based on a few variables. In asking them about their experience with meth, I shit you not the answer was "it's speed density so it will automatically account for it", failing to grasp that when the O2 sensors see the extra fuel it will pull out fuel and timing. That's "accounting" for it alright, one of the worst possible ways.

Oh I thought it did that. What variables, just curious trying to learn? Are you thinking on just going with hptuners so you can tune it yourself?

There's a shop a short hike from me owned by a guy I haven't interacted with 20 years and they're willing to play with it. I can use quite a bit more instrumentation on it as well for other things. As stated, the fact I ordered a 93 tune and they sent a "91-93" tune pisses me off for the price, especially after telling me "they're not boxed tunes". Don't lie to my fucking face asshats. Trust level went from roughly a 7 from reputation to a 2 at best. Can't trust it.

I really wanna pull the trigger on the livernois tuner with the EBOOST tune, but with all of the horror stories I’ve heard about PB failures I just can’t bring myself to do it, knowing I’ll likely be denied warranty work if it’s tuned. I’ll live vicariously through y’all for now
This makes zero sense. Just untune it before you take it in!

If there’s some sort of catastrophic failure, I doubt I’ll be able to take the tune off. Don’t they track key cycles on these trucks?

I’ve tuned SEVERAL cars over the years, many of them still under the full factory bumper to bumper warranty. The PB is not something I feel comfortable doing that with yet I guess

You have to go under hood and disconnect all 3 PCM connections and then plug in to tune. You can tune the PCM without the rest of the truck being present.

Pure conjecture, but I believe there's a 'flash count' in most modern ECU's. If it doesn't match what's expected, it could point to a 3rd party flash.

I understand the 'pay to play' concept - hopefully nothing breaks, but I can afford to figure it out if so.

Several years ago, I'd agree. I had a spare ECU for my Subaru.

Naivety here, but can you do that without Forscan/other changes for everything to be happy? Everything seems so interconnected now.

You should be able to PMI it in. Not sure. The truck whisperer would know @Jesse-Infotainment if you can PMI a used PCM into another vehicle.

You have to deal with PATs everytime you switch between PCM's, if I understand it correctly. So more than a quick swap, but doable.

Me personally? I think if you are going to tune, you should put your bigboy pants on and accept the risks associated. Go ahead and make the efforts to not draw attention, but don't cry if you are unfortunate enough to not get away with it.

The good news is the Powerboost untuned isn't exactly a slouch. :)
It's not as quick, nor as polished as
my previous 2018 Ecoboost, which was dynotuned on GearHead's dyno in College Station. It was magnificent because Matt is a 10r80 master, as well as being good at safe polished tuning. The truck was basically brand new and under warranty. I also have a good relationship with my dealership. Still, I know it's a risk management exercise.

I’m counting on my lucky stars, waiting with a pocket full of cash if needed.

I trust Livernois, and if I’m wrong, it’s just metal. ?‍♂

I must keep on the trend of trying to break the vehicles before they decide I'm not trying hard enough and do it for me. A tune on the other hand particularly from someone who failed to fulfil my instructions, well that wouldn't be ME breaking it now would it? I won't run a tune without turning the rollers due to this. Everyone else, caveat emptor.

New toy came today (dragy). Bone stock and half a tank of "fuel", traction control on. Still spins the tires though.

This is one of the main reasons I’m unwilling to tune the truck. Im not going to cry and complain that Ford won’t cover it under warranty if something fails, but im also unwilling to pay for any repairs if something fails
