2023 PB Platinum
I just purchased a 23 Plat PB two weeks ago. I have everything registered and the truck in my FordPass. Truck is a May 23 build and was a demo at the dealership. About 1150 miles when I purchased it. So far I have not had any updates and none show as pending online or in the app.

Anyone have experience on when to expect any updates post purchase? I know with my Tesla it took about a month post purchase before updates started coming.

Thanks!

I took possession of a ‘23 PB Plat in July. Was built in April. Have yet to receive a PU, despite ensuring auto downloads are scheduled. My 21 MME, on the other hand, receives updates frequently, included 5 or 6 updates over the past 2 months (prepping for BC 1.4). I assume the trucks modem is working, but who knows?

I'm in the same boat. Got my '23 XLT PB in August, May build date. No updates as of yet. No issues to report so far, so just biding my time.

There is no rhyme or reason as to how updates are released. No one can tell you when an update will be sent to you.

The update thing is strange. I bought mine in Nov and it updated to 6.2 or 6.3 on the way home. I see some people getting 6.8 now. Mines parked under a metal carport so it obstructs the satellite for XM but cell phone works under there. There is an AT&T tower a couple miles away so I figure to just not worry unless something major doesn’t get updated. Which at that point the dealership will regret selling me that service plan lol

There is no comparison between Tesla updates and Ford updates.

Honest question from a newer 2022 F-150 owner: Are regular updates something we really need to monitor or be concerned about? Especially if everything is running fine? There seems to be a lot of concern on this board about getting updates. What about all the owners who buy one of these trucks and never give updates a thought? Surely their trucks mostly just update as required on their own without any owner attention and problems are rare. Thanks.

When it comes to updates on Ford connected vehicles: Ignorance is bliss.

2023 PB 501a 4x4 short bed 7.2KW. PL=1658lbs.
Built in May of this yr. Put in service early June. I have no record of any updates. When I hit the update now button, shows none available.

Auto update is enabled and scheduled for 1:00 a.m.

It is NOT connected to the home WIFI but if I had any problems that an update might fix, I'd probably try that. For now, I'm going with no news, is good news.

I picked mine up on 11/2 and have already updated twice. Once about 2 weeks after, believe it was 11/16, then again on 12/13. Currently running 6.4.0.

My truck hasn’t

It’s been a year since I received my last update. I received my first update a month after I got the truck, then crickets after that. It’s been about 60k miles since my one and only update and my truck still starts, shifts and plays music ??

Many of us here make a sport out of tracking updates and are nearly obsessive about having the latest updates.
Many others of us don’t worry about it very much. Generally the trucks take care of themselves, updating as needed.

Naturally, there have been some instances where it paid to pay attention. There was a long stretch there a few years ago when some of the earlier gen 14s had an actual problem that was preventing them from updating. But that’s pretty much in the rear view mirror.
Me? I kinda keep an eye open and notice when a new update comes along. But honestly, if my truck hadn’t ever been updated at all, I doubt I would have noticed the difference. With the exception of the CarPlay/Android Auto fiasco a year or two ago, very few of the changes are generally noticesble.

I mainly hoping for the BlueCruise update whenever it comes. Truck is fine as is but the only feature lacking is the hands free lane change.

I still find trucks stuck on Sync 20262/20301 on a very regular basis. I found two today alone.
