My truck has had an issue with the BCM causing the alarm in the vehicle to go off which apparently has been blocking my OTA updates. They replaced the interior sensor and reset it which seemed to have opened OTA up again, but I still need to wait 2 weeks for a BCM.

Long story short, I was doing some reading on the 2.8.1 updates and needing a trickle charger etc to keep voltage on the battery. I had been driving the truck a lot yesterday and it was doing the auto stop start at each light so I figured when I got home (a 20 minute highway/gravel drive) that it would be at max voltage.

Sure enough, I started the update as soon as I got home and it seem to have worked! Now I know that I am like 4 or 5 versions behind still. When I look at the truck or the app, it just says that 2.8.1 was installed.

How long does it usually take for the next OTA update to trigger? I was hoping I could try and rattle them all off one after another, but it doesn't seem to queue in the system that way.

I tried to find the answer on here and a lot of it is "whenever Ford sends it" but I'm thinking they would have sent it long ago had the 2.8.1 already been installed.

Thanks in advance!

PS Interestingly, the dealer told me there were no updates available for my truck so either they aren't quite sure what they're doing or that alarm consistently going off clears all updates from the system.

There is no rhyme or reason as to how OTA's get sent. It is completely at random as far as I can tell.
