I won't argue that certain add ons can't be worth their weight re handling loads but as I've seen some order their dream trucks, only to find out too late, that the 80 grand they just spent, won't (legally) do what they need it to do, I don't want to be one of those guys.Fair enough, that's true from a legal/scale perspective. And adding weight in wheels has a small effect on power which is why it's in that payload calculation. But the PB has so much power, from a practical standpoint, you're not really going to notice except in MPG change over a long time.
From a real-life towing/physics perspective, you should worry much more about sprung weight in the bed and on the hitch. If I'm pushing up close to the max payload, a set of well-built wheels, heavy LT tires or all-terrains is going to make the truck safer. Less true if that same weight is in the bed or on the hitch.
And "legally" does matter, if in a serious accident, while "illegally" overloaded. Don't want to be that guy either.
So, work to maximize available payload within reason on the truck order and make decisions on what next, later.
For the record, the 4x4 comes with AT tires so, we'll see.
I hear good things about Sumo Springs. Anyone tried them?
