I have no idea what you are talking about…
It's amazing how simple the solution is. I feel bad for those going on wild goose chases only to run into the same problem.

We all have you to protect us from all nonsense though.
It'll be OK. :)
...And you know, it's nice to know you're out there when it comes to a software issue. I grew up in the nascent stages of software, basic language, punch cards, and so on... Have written my own software for aviation stuff, saw the introduction of GPS into aviation and ships... But ya kno, the software of today is so far beyond my capability that knowing a guy like you is out there watching out for us is a real "bennie..."

if you think those topics get people heated, wait till you check out any of the posts related to powering your house with a Powerboost
lol, I have seen them. Something about removing the ground wire on the cable from the truck to the house. I'm no electrician but I have seen some heated conversations. If I decide to hook up my house, I'm getting an electrician!

This forum is very tame compared to others. I belonged to a Yamaha motorcycle forum back around 2009. My buddy had a FJR 1300 and wasn't on the internet, so I volunteered to join and ask questions about the bike. I was much more opinionated then, have calmed down a lot, but I digress. Just because I didn't own the bike, I owned a Bmw , you would have thought I was public enemy #1. Talk about dog piling onto people , how dare I register and use their site and not own the bike. I politely told them to take a long walk off of a short pier.
For what it's worth, there are really nice and helpful people on this site. There are not too many people anymore that will offer helpful advice, let alone tell you to bring your truck to my place and I will help you fix it. I have never been in that situation myself to need help, but I know I can count on many here if I ever do.

Great video. Much appreciated.
Now I know where he got the 'genius' idea of adding an earth to his truck. LMAO.

oof, so much poor information in that video. Love the stranded "ground" wire too. There's a reason code calls for solid copper.

14:20 "gen manufacturers require bonding chassis to earth to help OCP trip" far too many people don't have a fu@king clue what the earth ground is actually doing. Earthed ground does zip, zero, nada for breaker tripping. Even with 2 50' ground rods on opposite sides of the building, it's not enough current to trip a 15 amp breaker.

This forum is milk toast compared to some others like the hull truth and Corvette Forum and a Camaro forum. You'd better have thick skin if your on them.
I think you have to be a natural prick to be on a Corvette forum. I wish nothing more than to win a corvette just so I can post a long message about how I worked my ass off for xx years to afford the car and then just be like, "just kidding." I won mine. Sucks for you if you had to pay for it. Hahaha. Reintroducing the crisis in "mid-life crisis."

Nah, they just don't coddle studiity over there. Plus I owned them long before and after my mid-life crisis. ;) First was a 1969 427 coupe (when I was 22). Last was a 2016 Z06 convertible.

I have only been on here a short time. I am enjoying the great information and trying to provide helpful information when I can.

Do people notice how heated some of the conversations get in these forums?

I understand that we are passionate about our vehicles and our beliefs as well. When I see some of the posts I say to myself “this one is going to get heated!”. Maybe it’s just what the internet has become. If you disagree with something then go on the attack.

Some of the topics that seem to make people the most passionate are (but not limited to):

-Arguments on what is the best displacement (usually brought up based on a simple towing or mpg questions). These trucks aren’t one-size-fits all. Our needs are all different.

-Towing questions usually lead to what is too much for these half-tons to tow regardless of what the recommendations are from the manufacturer. These get really heated. Get out your popcorn. This rabbit hole is a good one.

-What octane gas to use regular, mid-grade or premium regardless again of what the manufacturer recommends.

There are more but these are the ones I could think of for

We are on here to give advice when we can and to find helpful advice when needed. Strong opinions are like a**holes we all have them and they all stink. I will just sit here in disbelief at what some of us are bickering about.

Regardless of all of this, this is the best place to help and find help.
You forgot all of the oil threads.

Actually, even when the opinions differ, in general on this forum people seem pretty respectful. The only time that I can remember it crossing lines into personal attacks is when the discussion skated into the political arena. I learned to avoid those threads pretty quickly.
