Turns out it was a shattered valve. "UNIKRNF150" has taken on a whole NEW meaning!
It damaged the rollers & the cam shaft but not the head or below.

Thank God I don't have a business relying on having this truck on the road!

We're waiting to hear if Ford wants it repaired or will be sending a new head. I really don't care either way. I have the Premium Care ESP so it's THEIR problem until 2028!

After eight months of waiting for them to build this truck.. I made "other arrangements" long ago so other than the payments I'm making on a truck I haven't been able to drive in 2022... I'm just finding this all very fascinating to watch.

Of course all my buddies telling me with GREAT JOY... "I told you to get a Toyota"! lol

I'd rather have a broken down 2021 F150 than a Toyota ANY DAY!

I've driven the new Toyotas and they don't hold a candle to the 2021 5.0 F150.
Did he have to replace his rusted frame?

I wouldn't worry about it.

This is a weird one!

I have YET to see anyone else with this issue.

Just enjoy your F150 5.0, don't be afraid to flog it from time to time and make it do things that other trucks can't do.

HAVE FUN! These trucks are FUN!!
yeah, but sucks when you get that "one". defect in valve or spring only shows up one way, unfortunately.

I'm with you...hope every defect gives up the ghost ASAP so I dont have to pay.

No "rust".

That was the FIRST thing I checked before taking delivery.

No, THIS truck didn't sit on a flooded out "Ramp 56" for weeks/months waiting on chips.

It was built on the 9th, shipped on the 17th, delivered on the 29th.

It was just (unfortunately) built with a valve that got past QC.

Got it (Sorry, I'm a little thick)

My buddies don't drive Full size Regular Cab Short Bed 4x4s because TOYOTA DOESN'T MAKE THEM!

So they can raz me all they want but when I let them drive my 2021 F150 RCSB 4x4 5.0, I saw the look in their faces after I told them to STOMP ON IT!

(None of them ever made it past 8th gear!)

Nope!

See if THIS sounds familiar...

New head ordered mid-January.
Immediately placed on “Back Order” with no release date.
Early February, given a release date of February 27th.
February 25th, release date rescheduled for March 4th…

After 8 months and 7 rescheduled build dates waiting for delivery of my new F150 I feel like I’m trapped in Groundhog day!

Dude, lemon law it. You shouldn’t be out of a truck this long.

“I’m smellin what your steppin in” but THEN WHAT?

Make them buy back my truck?

Now I’m OUT a truck completely.

Order a 2022?

First of all… I DON’T WANT a 2022, that’s WHY I ordered a 2021.

Second… Now I get to start all over again and join the “6/15/22 Build Club” as my 1st of several promised build dates… AGAIN! FCUK THAT!

And NOW… Ford is apparently deleting some of the options I already have installed in my 2021 because they’re run by chimps I mean.. running out of chips.

And then there’s the 0% interest loan I have. Think I’ll get 0% on my 2022?
I don’t think so.

No… this truck is AMAZING! It’s not only everything I ever wanted in a F150 but far, FAR more. Everything worked and fit PERFECTLY on this truck until the #6 valve experienced a “Rapid Unscheduled Disassembly”.

I plan to have this truck until the last Gas Station closes.

So I’ll wait…

....fair enough

It is kind of weird that a newer model year LOSES features. I wouldn't really want to trade my 2021 for a 2022.

They're running out of parts.

So they had to choose between shutting down production (again) or deleting options.

Really, if you think about it… this is a MUCH better approach than telling people “yeah, sure we’ll add that option to your order” and then making them wait months for their trucks.

The problem is… for most people that means “why buy a Ford”?

For people like me who want or NEED a RCSB, we have no choice. Nobody else builds Full Size Regular Cab Short Beds anymore.

Ford is also the only ones building an extended cab with 8’ box.

limits options of stores to go to

Dodge still offers a RCSB under the RAM 1500 classic and they have a sliding rear window option which I would have loved.

https://www.ramtrucks.com/bmo.ram_1500.2022.html#/model/CUT202213
Thanks for the info but I didn't see that as an option 2-years ago when I started shopping for a new truck.

And... there's a hell of a lot of tech in my broken down 2021 F150 RCSB that isn't available in the 2022 RAM.

But that main reason I really never considered a RAM is that I have friends & coworkers who bought RAMs over the past several years that had very expensive problems with them… mainly Transmission issues.

GRANTED… none of them ever had a shattered valve but if you can find anyone else with a 2021 F150 5.0 with a shattered valve I’d love to hear about it.

I test drove the RAM in the summer of 2020. I loved the interior, much better than my F150. And the HEMI was a monster! But I was told that the RCSB wasn’t available so I crossed it off my list.
